Late Night Video — Tea Party Rally Fail

The tejadis held rallies all over the US this weekend trying to rally their crazed and delusional troops into not seeing the political train wreck that is the Ryan Budget passed by the House last week.

The Tea Party Effect Demonstrated

Yesterday was a day of congressional primaries in Indiana, North Carolina, and Ohio. While I don’t care to go into details about each and every one (although if you do, Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post has a good wrap-up), there is an over-riding trend that I do want to take note of. For the [...]

Fox News Gives Hannity A Public Spanking

It’s hard to know where the line is with Fox News, but Sean Hannity must have crossed it:
Angry Fox News executives ordered host Sean Hannity to abandon plans to broadcast his nightly show as part of a Tea Party rally in Cincinnati on Thursday after top executives learned that he was set to headline the [...]

An Open Letter to the Tea Party

Dear Tea Party Members and Sympathizers,
Happy (or do I wish you an Angry?) Tax Day to you. Since you seem to have appropriated today as your holiday, I thought it would be a good opportunity to try to reach out to you. Despite what some may think, I consider myself to be a fairly intelligent and open-minded [...]

Now the Tea Partiers Want Their Own Army

I’m sorry, but no good can come of this. From the great conservative state of Oklahoma, site of the largest domestic terrorist attack in US history, we get this story about a Tea Party umbrella group that is looking to form an official, state-approved militia. The scariest part is that this is not just some crazy [...]

The Tea Parties Are About Race

I know you’re really shocked to hear this. This week sort of feels like a “I told you so” type of week. Two different incidents of unstable people threatening lawmakers because of radicalization over health care reform. Now we get some results of a new survey about people who support the Tea [...]

What Flavor Is Your Tea, Partiers?

In the words of St. Ronnie, “Here they go again.” It seems that an alliance of Tea Party groups has descended upon Washington again, in a three-week “Take the Town Halls To Washington” rally. They’re protesting a government take-over, or Bolshevik revolution, or alien invasion, or some such thing. Oh, OK. Actually they’re trying a [...]

Tea Parties Organize To Take Control

The one thing you have to give the Right credit is their ability to play the long game.  They are quite happy to chip away at policy they don’t like and seem to understand that baby steps are still, indeed, steps.
Steve Benen lays it out, and we need to pay attention.
The Tea Party movement ignited [...]

I’m Having Trouble Seeing This Marriage End In Anything Other Than Divorce

Cenk Uygar (the Seminal at Fire Dog Lake) has issued an invitation to tea parties.
I issue a challenge to the tea-party movement. If you’re true to your word, and you believe in protecting the American people and principles, and you think government is too big and hands out money to the wrong people, then join [...]

Some Tea Partiers Are Just Bad Spellers (and Racists)

Remember this past summer, when we were all debating whether or not the tea-party movement was racist or not? One of the interesting parts of the movement was creative sign spelling.

Today brings us news that the two issues are related (as if we didn’t have some supicions all along).

Anybody Not See This Coming?

Via Think Progress:
In an interview with National Review today, DeMint said that the tea parties should no longer be thought of as “separate” from the Republican Party:
“The GOP leadership needs to stand up for mainstream American principles,” says DeMint. The best way to do that, he says, is to “look to the great candidates we [...]

Tea Party: The Movie

There is a new documentary coming out – it’s called Tea Party: The Documentary Film. Apparently it’s serious and not a parody (though it’s difficult to tell). Here’s the trailer:

Seriously guys – the second American revolution? Two protests in Washington, D.C. does not a revolution make, even if you’ve got your own [...]

The Castle Purging Begins on Saturday

Apparently there is a Tea Party this Saturday in Dover. I guess that it is being advertised on Stormfront or wherever those people get together online. Last time they did this, there was a minor bruhaha about Tea Party barfly, Mike Protack and his demand for top billing. This time, an actual candidate for an actual office is speaking.

Michelle’s Mob

Michelle Bachmann is gathering a mob today to try to intimidate members of Congress in hopes of derailing the health care reform bill. Is it a coincidence that she scheduled this protest on Guy Fawkes Day?
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) appeared on the Glenn Beck radio show today to promote her big protest event tomorrow [...]

Armey Is Building An Army

Let’s face it, NY-23 was the tea partier’s battle field.  It was where they drew the line in the sand.  And… there were lessons to be learned.   Mainly that a 100 year old Republican seat switched to a Democrat seat.  To me this says that people comfortable with always pulling the R lever suddenly changed [...]

Teabaggers on Parade

The other night Anderson Cooper had Mark Williams on his show. Mr. Williams is one of the leaders of the tea party protests. Unfortunately for Williams, Cooper had done some homework before the interview.

Cooper: What you’re saying makes sense to me here when I’m hearing what you say but then I read on your blog, you say, you call the President an Indonesian Muslim turned welfare thug and a racist in chief.

Williams: Yeah, that’s the way he’s behaving.

ABC News To Teabaggers: YOU LIE!

There’s lots of numbers floating around about the attendance for yesterday’s Million Thousand Moron March. One that has been widely reported on conservative blogs is 2 million (ironically or perhaps not the estimated number that attended Obama’s inauguration). Michelle Malkin’s site, linked to by many other conservative sites, used ABC News as the [...]

Rachel Maddow Takes A Look At The Money Behind The Townhall Rabble Rousers

Rachel breaks down the money and the power behind the townhall rabble rousers. It’s a who’s who of the VRWC, including Bush administration employees, leaders in the Republican party, the Swift Boat Liars and rightwing moneybags.

Has Violence Already Started?

As has been documented before, the Republican party and astroturf lobbying groups have been encouraging people to disrupt townhall meetings of Democratic members of Congress. These tea party activists are part of the paranoid, far right wing base of the party and have been using some questionable tactics. Tactics like shouting down all [...]

At What Point Does The Exception Become The Rule?

Having been away this weekend I missed this gem of a message left on Kel Munger’s voice mail.  I believe it speaks for itself and accurately sums up the mindset behind the Tea Parties.  How many more signs, interviews, and comments similar to the one below have to take place before everyone stops pretending that [...]
