With Beau Biden’s withdrawal from the Senate race yesterday, we have a lot of scrambling going on. Let’s discuss the pros and cons of each of the prospective Democratic candidates.
First, let’s dispense with Lt. Governor Matt Denn. I spoke to him yesterday. He isn’t going to run. His two kids come first in his life, and not seeing them for days at a time would be an abdication of his most important role. But let me say for the record, he would be my first choice.

I have just returned from the Inauguration of Jack Markell and Matt Denn. Sorry that I didn’t blog it live, but once I got there, it seemed inappropriate to do so. From the blogging world, Cassandra M sat with me. Two rows up was Redwaterlilly and across the room I spotted Mike Matthews.
I also saw [...]
Announcing the Delaware Liberal Inaugural Weekend Festivities
We, the writers of Delaware Liberal, were bummed that there seemed to be no way of getting our team down to the Inauguration or to attend one of the prestigious Inaugural Balls in Washington. So we have decided to celebrate the occasion of the inauguration of Obama/Biden and Markell/Denn right here in Delaware.
Jack Markell has [...]

For weeks, Kilroy has been taunting us that Copeland was making inroads in Wilmington. This is pretty laughable. In the past few days, Kilroy has been saying that the Republicans had a full-on assault coming our way.
One of our intrepid readers caught the newest strategy in action. I think it is appropriate that this sign [...]
Land of a Thousand Handshakes
Last night, my 7 year old daughter was spending the night at a friends home, so we had the 11 year old son to entertain. I saw that there was a Middletown v. Sallies football game down at Middletown so we set our sights on it.
I had to get some money, so I stopped at [...]
The Biden Rally at UD
This morning I took a look at my schedule and checked for any issues in my work inbox. There wasn’t anything burning, so I took some time out of the office to check out the Biden rally on the University of Delaware mall.
I have been wondering what the heck they were doing having a rally [...]
WDEL Lt. Governor Debate 28 October at 6
Allan Loudell is moderating a debate between Matt Denn and Charlie Copeland at WDEL on Tuesday 28 October starting at 6PM. According to Allan’s blog, this debate will go one or one and a half hours depending upon the Phillies.
Allan is asking for questions to be asked of these candidates — if you have [...]
DEwind: The Week That Was October 20th
Wherever Kavips is getting his amphetamines it is fine with me, because right now he is Delaware’s Most Prolific blogger. But today, I’ll only focus on his Workforce Housing post from earlier in the week.
But with little contention worth mentioning, here is the scoop from the meeting… Work force housing is a done deal. Stays can [...]
Delaware Liberal General Election Endorsements
We’ll just skip US Senate because it will come as no surprise to anyone that DelawareLiberal is endorsing Joe Biden.
It won’t come as any surprise that DelawareLiberal is endorsing Jack Markell and Matt Denn for Governor and Lt. Governor, respectively. Even though there isn’t much surprise and there isn’t much doubt as to outcome, [...]
Comment Rescue: Bigotry In Delaware.
From a thread on the JCC Forum:
Alex D’Armagny // Oct 22, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Is it a coincidence that Jack picked Matt? I do not think so. I do not care what religion they are, but I can not see myself voting for a pair of those who do not represent my beliefs. At [...]

20Oct2008 | liberalgeek | Comments Off | ContinuedDEwind: The Week That Was October 13th
We had a lot of local coverage over the last week at Delaware Liberal, no doubt the most political coverage in Delaware blogs.
First on our local political coverage is our series of interviews with Delaware candidates:
Our final installment (?) of our Jack Markell interview
The first part of our interview with Lt. Governor candidate Matt Denn. [...]
DelawareLiberal Interviews Matt Denn Part 1
In this first part of a two part interview, DelawareDem and Cassandra talk to Matt Denn about blogs, the campaign and what the hell a Lt. Governor can do.
Newsworthy:
Denn responds to the Lee/Copeland “plan” to break up DENREC.
Ahead in the polls, Denn prepared for negative attacks.
DEwind: The Week That Was October 6th
Watch Delaware Liberal’s last part of our interview with Delaware’s next governor, Jack Markell. Also, we interview Democratic candidate for Insurance Commissioner, Karen Weldin Stewart.
Delawonk points out that Delaware ranks a dismal 46 out of the 50 states on its campaign finance disclosure laws. This needs to be addressed by our next governor prior to [...]
Matt Denn on WHYY Tonite
At 10pm tonite, Matt Denn takes over the airwaves (this is on the TV WHYY) and spends an hour discussing issues and ideas that animate his candidacy for Lt. Governor. Matt is on for an hour (I think). No idea if this is up for rebroadcast online. Make sure you see it!

A day late and a dollar short, but it’s here.
The big blogging news in Delaware is of a personal nature. First is that Don Viti has spawned . . . again. Congratulations to Mrs. Hot Viti, Don and Little Don Viti. The second item is that regular Republican troll mike w has been hired by [...]
Markell: Reform and Current and Potential Lt. Governors
In Part 4 of our Markell Interview, we ask Jack about his plans to review State government from top to bottom. We also ask him about how he would work with John Carney, Matt Denn and even Charlie Copeland.
5Oct2008 | liberalgeek | 4 comments | ContinuedThe Dr. Nick Interview with Matt Denn
Editors Note: I view Matt Denn’s tenure as Delaware’s Insurance Commissioner as a refreshing return to the kind of old school Democratic values that seem to have been lost by a generation of Democratic politicians. He has long been a favorite of Delaware liberal and has recently cemented his reputation around here [...]
