Comment Rescue Question — How *Do* We Get Better Democrats Representing Us in Delaware?

This is from a comment made by Steve Newton last night in the John Carney thread, and it is a damn fine question. He lays out the state of the board pretty well and takes more time to ask something I've been asking here for awhile -- if we're a Blue State, how come we don't have representation that represents that? Mostly the answer I get back is some testy version of needing more blogging or some such, but blogging is not voting or organizing really -- the reach is much too limited.

Tipping His Canoe into the Race

It seems as though Jack Markell might have a primary opponent. Magnolia resident Doug Beatty, whose only claim to fame is being the son of actor Ned Beatty, has announced that he is going to challenge Markell in the Democratic primary. That is if he can raise the filing fee. In what has to be the biggest understatement of the year, Beatty said that he is "an extreme long shot" but thinks he can win if he can get on the ballot. I think he's watched The Candidate too many times. His run is more like the wet dream Bobby had in Deliverance.

Let’s Do This Again

Yesterday we showed the new Delaware Democratic Party logo, but there was just a small problem with it. The vendor misspelled “Democratic” by adding a third “c.” And to be fair to the staff at the Del Dems, I missed it when I first looked at it, because my attention was drawn to the Hen. Click inside to see the revised new logo, and the secondary logo that we have not seen yet, that I love even better, and see how much better these logos are than the logos of the past.

The Responsibilities of the Democratic Electorate

The need to purge our party of people that don't take their responsibilities to the people of Delaware is an unending job and it takes a concentrated effort. We have to often choose our battles so that we can win a few rather than lose a bunch of them. In 2012, we will again be in a target-rich environment.
