Frank Knotts’ Last Post At Delaware Politics?

Frank Knotts, a contributor at Delaware Politics, has written a post about other contributors penchant for deleting comments they simply don’t agree with.  This deleting of comments has been going on for quite a while, and fingers are being pointed at Don Ayotte – rightly so, imo.
For the second time today I have been made [...]

Looks Like There’s A New Blog In Town

Steve Newton brings us Civil But Disobedient.
I hadn’t realized Steve had started his own blog until I surfed over his name in the comments, and what do I find when I visit?  A post calling out Delaware Liberal.  Just like the good old days!

Kavips Spells Out How We Got To The Brink Of Disaster

Our one and only Kavips has a diary entitled You Just Don’t Get It… moving up the Daily Kos rec list.  So… go read and rec!
Here’s a taste:
And so they upped the ante… They said there should be a shift of $4 trillion to take care of the long term debt problem.
When that appeared to [...]

Marriage Equality vs. Civil Unions

Yesterday in a meeting with bloggers, Governor Markell stated that he supported Civil Unions for Delaware but hadn’t thought about full marriage equality.

Christina Just Got More Transparent

Last night the Christina School District elected their new school board president, John Young.  John is a friend of DelawareLiberal and has been a tireless advocate for transparency in the Christina School District over at his aptly named, Transparent Christina.
Congratulations, John.

New Blog In Town

RSmitty, Dave Burris and Michael Stafford have teamed up and launched Delaware Tomorrow – a new perspective on policy and politics.
Hmmm… the rebirth of moderate Republicans… or the last hurrah?  We shall see.
(Psst… notice how I gave you top billing, Smitty.)

Ron Williams States His Problem With Bloggers And Then Proceeds To Use Their Work

On today’s opinion page of the News Journal Ron Williams makes several points.
1.  He really doesn’t like bloggers, especially anonymous bloggers
2.  Bloggers that use to be journalists are sorta okay, but, in general, he doesn’t like bloggers.
3.  Having got that off his chest he then proceeds to write an article about a blog post.
Priceless.

A Blog That Combines Literature And Politics

Correct grammar, rich language and content? What’s the blogging world coming to?

Broken Turtle
Literature and Politics from a microcosm called Delaware. Here all the multifaceted players across the great capitalist contradiction are reduced to a few actors: a handful of banking and chemical oligarchs squatting in châteaux, a stable of artists downwind who either take [...]

Welcome to the Blogosphere, Gov. Markell

Today, Governor Markell launched his new blog. His first post is titled Dedicated to You: Amazing and Awe-Inspiring and it details some of the heroics of state workers during the storm. Right on cue, a commenter identifying themselves as “Employee” made this comment:

It’s so nice to hear about how hard my fellow employees work. However, you forget to mention the money we have lost, and the benefits that some of us don’t have. I have been working for the state for over two years with no raise, a pay cut, and no benefits.

Dave Burris Is Back… And He’s Not Happy

Dave Burris has returned to blogging.  Check out his new site here.  Like I said at his new place… you don’t know what you had ’til it’s gone.  And while I rarely agreed with Dave, he made me think.  Delaware Politics has become wingnut central – Be honest, Dave, how irritated are you that you [...]

This Sort Of Lazy Blogging Drives Me Crazy

Tennessee Walker, over at Delaware Politics, has a post up that tells me the little chick-a-dee could use some time off the farm.  It starts as a rant about Eric Holder (Fine, I get that.  It’s a Conservative blog) then launches into a full-out screed against cities.
Democrat run cities are cesspools of corrumption and cronyism [...]

Art Downs Hospitalized

According to DelawarePolitics and Dana Pico, Art Downs had a heart attack today. Art is a contributor at the ill-named, Common Sense Political Thought site and often comes around spewing right-wing talking points and bamboozlement, but love him or hate him, he is a member of this community. I wish him well.

Looks Who’s Famous :-P

Today’s News Journal had an article on local reaction to the Nobel Peace Prize award:
Timothy Pancoast, blogging on Delawarepolitics.net, which bills itself as “Delaware’s Center-Right Voice,” wrote: “Our great leader President Obama has won a Nobel Peace Prize. He has paid far less for that than most people pay to win at the Dover Downs [...]

Yikes! The Delaware Blogosphere Has Lost Another

I just surfed over to Delaware Watch and saw that Dana Garrett has posted a goodbye of sorts.  He has apparently decided to hang the blog up for a while, as he has a new job.  I can relate, as I have been unable to get the inspiration to post lately (other than what we [...]

Community Standards – A Call For Feedback

To me, blogging is very different than other sources of news and information. Blogging is not like a newspaper or TV news – it’s a conversation between the bloggers and the community. We as contributors don’t feel like we “own” the stories, we are conversation starters. We don’t want people to feel [...]

Why The News Journal Sucks!

I don’t know if you missed it, but DelawareLiberal has been mentioned in the News Journal twice in the past two weeks. Both times, we were trotted out to smack us around. The most egregious was the mention on Sunday about our recent change in personnel.

The other mention seems trivial, but it is a little more insidious. Smitty saw it and pointed it out to us. The discussion of DL was that we were trading in baseless rumors.

A Witty Saying Proves Nothing

When the Prince of Darkness died, I commented, “Good riddance. Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way to Hell.”  It was Chilon of Sparta who once said that one should not speak ill of the dead, but I’m pretty sure that he wasn’t speaking of people like Robert Novak.
With all [...]
