Koch-style Big Money Now in School Board Races

Filed in National by on October 22, 2011 42 Comments

I always like to check in on politics in Denver and Colorado, since that is where I cut my teeth in the political world. I’m still good friends with a number of elected officials out there and some of the Democratic Party officials. So I was surprised to read this today. My brother, who is a Denver Democratic Party officer sent it to me. It seems as though Koch-style big money has trickled down to the school board races.

Bush: ‘Gog and Magog Made Me Do It’

Filed in International, National by on August 6, 2009 11 Comments

Invade Iraq, that is. And just one more story the MSM didn’t cover: A raging born-again religious fanatic lunatic was President. El Somnambulo cannot make this stuff up. But here’s the sourced inside skinny, starting w/Daily Kos, and continuing with an account from the Council for Secular Humanism: Incredibly, President George W. Bush told French […]

Final Thought – Most conservative

Filed in National by on April 28, 2009 15 Comments

What president was the most conservative? Now that Dubya is so unpopular, many conservatives are quick to claim that Bush wasn’t really a conservative anyway. But honestly, who can they compare him to? Bush Sr., Reagan, and Ford all passed big tax hikes, as did Hoover. Ford surrendered Vietnam, both Reagan and traveled to Moscow […]

McClatchy Papers: Bush Pushed Torture to Find Iraq-Al Qaida Link

Filed in National by on April 22, 2009 13 Comments

A link which, of course, never existed.  In other words, Bush/Cheney et al were so intent on getting evidence to justify their misbegotten war in Iraq that they approved torture in order to find it: WASHINGTON — The Bush administration applied relentless pressure on interrogators to use harsh methods on detainees in part to find […]

The Lie That Won’t Die

Filed in National by on March 12, 2009 14 Comments

Ari Fleischer is a big liar. FLEISCHER: It was in part because of Iraq and large part because of the economy that Barack Obama won. Having said that, I also think Barack Obama should say thank you every day that he inherited a world without Saddam Hussein in it. The one thing people are going […]

Comment Rescue: Love!

David Anderson: I love President Bush Love! Never mind the fact that he goes on to criticize Bush. He only does so with love in his heart. Tell me, Republicans, though you may have many criticisms of your former president, do you still love him? (let’s be adults here – obviously we’re talking about admiring […]

BushCo Retrospective in Political Cartoons

Filed in National by on January 19, 2009 3 Comments

Ben Sargent is a political cartoonist at the Austin American-Statesman, and his paper put together a select group of Sargent’s work over the past 8 years that is meant to be a summing up of what we’ve had to live through. And it is just about brilliant. Make sure you go see them, there are […]

What’s the Deal with Blair House?

Filed in National by on January 7, 2009 19 Comments

What is the real story behind Blair House, because what’s emerging is raising pettiness to a new level.  Was the Obama’s request to move in ten days early really denied due to an overnight visit by a former Prime Minister?  And can you imagine what the MSM would be doing with this story if it had […]

I guess I could have titled this post Duh. CNN Poll: Thinking about the following characteristics and qualities, please say whether you think it applies or doesn’t apply to George W. Bush: Is a strong and decisive leader: Yes 45%, No 55% Cares about people like you: Yes 37%, No 62% Brought the kind of […]

When reminded that al Qaeda wasn’t in Iraq until after we invaded Bush says, “So what?”  BUSH: One of the major theaters against al Qaeda turns out to have been Iraq. This is where al Qaeda said they were going to take their stand. This is where al Qaeda was hoping to take- RADDATZ: But […]

Deliberate Incompetence

Filed in National by on December 15, 2008 20 Comments

I have reached the conclusion that the last eight years weren’t the stumblings of an incompetent frat boy, but rather, a deliberate effort to bring our country to its knees.  I believe what we are witnessing is the Republican version of Tough Love – which might be more accurately described as spousal abuse, as in… […]

I’m so sick of him

Filed in National by on December 2, 2008 6 Comments

God forbid Bush would focus on something as mundane as the economy in his final days. The outgoing Bush administration is planning to announce a broad new “right of conscience” rule permitting medical facilities, doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other healthcare workers to refuse to participate in any procedure they find morally objectionable, including abortion and […]

OK, I know that we all know George W Bush to be the worst President in history.  However, one of my favorite sayings is “Even a blind chicken finds corn sometimes.”  What, about George Bush, are you thankful for this year? Personally, I am thankful that he got the Do Not Call list going.  Now […]

Busy Bush

Filed in National by on November 19, 2008 3 Comments

While we all debate Obama’s cabinet decisions and the Dems inaction action towards Lieberman, Bush has been a very busy bee.  Given his dismal approval rating and the fact that, given a choice, the American people would have voted to end his term beginning November 5th instead of waiting until January, you’d think he’d spend his […]

A Silver Lining

Filed in National by on November 14, 2008 4 Comments

Seems being compared to Bush gives foreign leaders pause. With Russian tanks only 30 miles from Tbilisi on August 12, Mr. Sarkozy told Mr. Putin that the world would not accept the overthrow of Georgia’s Government. According to [Sarkozy’s chief diplomatic adviser, Jean-David] Levitte, the Russian seemed unconcerned by international reaction. “I am going to […]

Yesterday’s WSJ Opinion Page carried this choice bit of wankery, claiming that The Treatment of Bush Has Been a Disgrace Even by the WSJ Tin Foil Hat (that was for Joanne) standards, this is off the charts rich: The treatment President Bush has received from this country is nothing less than a disgrace. The attacks […]

Good News You Haven’t (Really) Heard Yet

BushCo signs the paperwork for a transition. The mess this man leaves means that the next President has a quite unenviable job on his hands. It is really clear that John McCain is not only not up to the job, he doesn’t even care about fixing the mess. Our long national nightmare is almost over. […]

The 30 Percenters

As the economy continues to go belly up, as the body counts in Iraq and Afghanistan continue to rise, as the corruption and greed of the current administration’s friends blossom in a putrid fragrance, as our energy policy is driven by oil fat cats, there are a group of Republicans and Independents who want to […]

Where’s Bush?

Filed in National by on September 19, 2008 19 Comments

The stock market plunges, people are losing their jobs and their homes, and our fearless leader is nowhere to be found.  Politico sums it up. “I will continue to closely monitor the situation in our financial markets and consult with my economic advisers,” President Bush said Thursday in a two-minute address from the Rose Garden. I want to have Chuck Hagel’s baby

Okay, I really don’t want to have his baby, but now that I have your attention… I’ve always liked Hagel. He’s the real “straight talker” of the Republican party. And before conservatives try and link my praise to my support for Obama let me point out that I’ve admired Hagel for quite some time. Hagel, […]
