The ‘Lessons’ We Never Learned From 9/11
It’s hard to take the slogan “never forget” seriously when, as a country, we never learned the true lessons of 9/11 in the first place.

Today we have reached a low point in American politics. After a huge frenzy of a non-traversy, enabled by a lazy media, Barack Obama released the Holy Grail of birth certificates, the long form birth certificate. It proved what we’ve known all along, Obama was born in Hawai’i.
He also gave a press conference where he [...]
Tornoe’s Toon: Chris Christie – GOP Rock Star
When Barack Obama campaigned for Jon Corzine, New Jerseyans laughed at the president’s relative “star power” when upstart Republican Chris Christie won the election.

Ask Dr. Liberal: Good Deal!
Dear Dr. Liberal,
Should I buy a used car from Barack Obama? It is a 2005 Mazda Protege with 65,000 miles on it. He is asking $3,000 for it. What do you think?
Signed,

Obama Will Speak To Students On September 8th (Psst… I added a Visual)
At 12:00 p.m., Eastern Time (ET), September 8, 2009, President Barack Obama will deliver a national address to the students of America. (Please note that this is a change from the originally scheduled time.) During this special address, the president will speak directly to the nation’s children and youth about persisting and succeeding in school. [...]

ABC’s got the scoop:
1. The Way Home by George Pelecanos
2. Hot, Flat and Crowded by Tom Friedman
3. Lush Life by Richard Price
4. Plainsong by Kent Haruf
5. John Adams by David McCullough
This means that El Somnambulo and Obama have at least one book in common. The Bibliophile Who Slumbers is currently reading Richard Price’s “Lush Life”, [...]
Obama’s Debut Speech
It’s hard to remember a time when we weren’t talking about Barack Obama. But it was only 5 short years ago that a not-yet Senator Barack Obama burst onto the scene with an amazing speech at the Democratic National Convention.

I do like Robert Gibbs. And does anyone else find it odd that Rick Santelli is declaring that that room full of Wall St. traders is America?

We, the writers of Delaware Liberal, were bummed that there seemed to be no way of getting our team down to the Inauguration or to attend one of the prestigious Inaugural Balls in Washington. So we have decided to celebrate the occasion of the inauguration of Obama/Biden and Markell/Denn right here in Delaware.
Jack Markell has [...]
Here’s Why Donviti Isn’t Going to Work at The White House
Wow. The New York Times has a story up on what the Obama administration (I loved typing that) is asking potential applicants for in the way of embarrassing stuff. Emails, blog posts, Facebook, etc. Could you make the grade? I actually wonder if this will make a difference in the increasing level of connectedness and [...]
12Nov2008 | liberalgeek | 8 comments | ContinuedBarack Obama, Blogger Material?
The incomparable John Cole over at Balloon Juice documents some of the evidence that Obama is something of a geek (props to LG and Duffy). This is funny:
“That’s an interesting belt buckle,” he said to Michelle, mischievously. She feigned offense and said, “I am interesting, next to you. Surprise, surprise, a blue suit, a [...]
What If McCain’s Gaffes Were Obama’s
What’s frightening is the amount of gaffes.

Obviously, this is the biggest week on the calendar for political junkies. We are here to make sure you get your fix of Delaware politics during the next few days. So here is a rundown of what we will be doing.

Gutter Cleaning
When I was cleaning the house this weekend, I found this button which I wore prior to March 2003. This was one of the main reason I was first interested in the candidacy of Barack Obama.

Over at The New Yorker, Herdrik Herzberg lays out the socialism argument in all of its glory and they shows us that there isn’t much difference between McCain2000 and Obama2008 on that front. Oh and the real socialist candidate is Sarah Palin.
Let me forewarn Dominique, the author uses the word cudgel. For Dominiques’ convenience, here [...]

Early Voting! Updated
Yes, it really is getting close to the end — people are now voting and this is when it gets really exciting.
The AP publishes a roundup of key early voting states from around the country.
The numbers are astonishing (and most early voting started Monday):
About 12 percent of the state’s [Georgia] roughly 5.6 million registered [...]
QOTE
What is at least one specific reason you are voting for your presidential candidate? Name your candidate too please.
(please answer b/c with 14 days out, we may have some readers that don’t know a sound reason)
McCain slips and slides toward defeat
This new PEW Poll tells quite a story. Palin’s negatives soar while McCain’s judgement is questioned. Judgement? Is that akin to character?
Let’s look at the numbers.
Obama’s Lead Widens: 52%-38%
Savor that for a minute. Okay, let’s move on to the economy.
Breaking: Colin Powell Endorses Obama
On top of raising 150 million in September, Obama snags the endorsement everyone wanted.
Chuck Todd adds more:

St. Louis Loves Some Obama
In 2004, John Kerry lost Missouri by about 200,000 votes. Today, Obama held a rally in St. Louis, MO. 100,000 people showed up to see Barack Obama speak under the Gateway Arch. That is a whole lot of anti-American Americans in one place.

Will McCain bring up Ayers tonight, and if he does go down this path how will Obama respond?

Okay, I’ll admit I’ve always had trouble with the “L” word, but, geez Louise, this is looking like a Landslide.
