Romney Preaches to the Choir
Yesterday, Mitt Romney passed his first audition with evangelicals as he gave the commencement speech at Liberty University, a private Christian university founded by Jerry Falwell, who infamously blamed gays, lesbians, feminists, the ACLU and others for the attacks on 9/11.

It’s Not a Flip-Flop If You Get It Right
What is the definition of a flip-flopper?
It’s interesting to explore the origin of the term. Famed New York Times columnist William Safire wrote about a U.S. politician in the late 19th century who was refereed to as “the Florida flopper” by an opponent. Safire noted that the “fl” sound appearing twice [...]

Mitt Romney’s Pattern of Homophobia
There’s been lots of debate over whether Mitt Romney’s teenager years as a bully are fair game, but what I find interesting is that it shows a pattern of homophobia over many years.

Romney was a psychotic bully in High School
The Washington Post reports on how Mitt Romney, when he was a young adult at 18 years of age, was a homophobic bully who beat up and assaulted people he thought were different that he was.

Thursday Polling Report [5.10.12]
So how does a President’s embrace of same sex marriage play in our polling world? The real answer to the question is no one knows because it has never happened before. Will Obama lose states because of his support of same sex marriage? Maybe. North Carolina probably got a little harder to win, since the CW is “well they just banned gay marriage by 20 points, that must mean Obama will lose North Carolina by 20 points now, right?”
Nope.

While the newspapers, websites, and cable news channels are filled with chatter and some analysis about President Obama’s support of gay marriage, there is still a long way to go.

Patience
President Obama, “who is under mounting pressure to clarify his thinking on same-sex marriage after top aides publicly embraced it in recent days, will sit down for an interview with ABC News on Wednesday during which he is likely to discuss his ‘evolving’ views on the issue,” the New York Times reports. I find it hard to imagine that he will endorse gay marriage in this interview and at this time, but I could be wrong.

Lugar Got O’Donnell-ed.
Sen. Richard Lugar (R-IN) lost his bid to stay in office for a 7th term to Richard Mourdock (R). With 45% reporting, Mourdock is leading with 60% of the vote. This makes the Indiana Senate race a more competitive one in the fall, and gives Democrat Joe Donnelly a good chance to pick up this seat against the teabagger Mourdock. His name sounds an awful lot like Mordor. Fitting, I think.

Adolescent
Yesterday, I came across this piece by Jo McGowan when reading the President’s favorite blogger, Andrew Sullivan, and I think it hits the nail squarely on the head: that the views of certain vocal Catholic priests, and to a large extent all socially conservative Republicans who criticized the President during the Contraception debate earlier this year, are adolescent.
