The Case for Biden

I just want to remind everyone that the case for Biden (over Sanders) was that Biden had friendships and great working relationships with Republicans that he served with in the Senate.  They would respect him and Biden would “break the fever” that the radicalized GOP was suffering from.

So how’s that project going?

Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) last week presented records of Biden’s dealings with a Chinese company on the Senate floor, part of a probe by the senators into the Biden family’s business dealings.

At a Tuesday oversight hearing, Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee asked Bryan Vorndran, assistant director of the FBI’s cyber division, about Hunter Biden’s laptop. Vorndran repeatedly answered that he had no information about it.

Settled Law

Let’s see…?  We have a rabidly anti-labor Supreme Court and corporation (Amazon) saying that the NLRB interfered with the Staten Island Union vote. So, how long do you figure it will take for the Republican Court to overturn NLRB vs Jones Steele, and vacate that vote?   When it happens I’m sure the sage legal minds will base their opinions on the well stablished precedent of “LOL. Fuck You, nothing matters.”

National Labor Relations Board v Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation, 301 U.S. 1 (1937), was a United States Supreme Court case that upheld the constitutionality of the National Labor Relations Act of 1935, also known as the Wagner Act. The case represented a major expansion in the Court’s interpretation of Congress‘s power under the Commerce Clause and effectively spelled the end to the Court’s striking down of New Deal economic legislation.

The case arose after the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) ordered Jones & Laughlin Steel to rehire workers who had been fired for seeking to unionize. Jones and Laughlin refused to comply on the grounds that the Wagner Act, which had established the NLRB, was unconstitutional.

Zero Tolerance for Negativity!

Do you know how you know someone has been ejected from “the club”? The press is free to use the mugshot.

Employees castigated, reindictment states
April 1, 2022

A reindictment of State Auditor Kathleen McGuiness was issued by a grand jury March 28, detailing complaints from employees who say McGuiness castigates those she deems disloyal.

The latest indictment filed in New Castle County Superior Court outlines all the original counts announced Oct. 11 – felony theft, felony intimidation, and misdemeanors of conflict of interest, structuring payments that are noncompliant with procurement law, and official misconduct – with more details surrounding the felony intimidation charge.

“[McGuiness] discriminated against employees who questioned her misconduct, and enacted office policies to limit the personal activity of employees who associated with former employees,” the indictment reads. “She and her most senior staff continued castigating employees – witnesses – they deemed disloyal.”

The indictment details three intimidation incidents, the first occurring on Feb. 11 when McGuiness called an all-staff meeting to voice her displeasure over perceived leaked information.

“She told them that she used to have the staff yell out loud, ‘Confidentiality!’ and that confidentiality means what happens in this office, stays in this office,” court records read.

Near the end of the meeting, the indictment states, McGuiness warned, “We are gonna have a zero tolerance for negativity.”

The DC Bubble’s Centrist Strategy – Always Winning

It looks like the traditional Democratic strategy of lying motionless and allowing the Republican’s kicking legs to get tired isn’t working so well for Ol’ Joe.

TRUMP ASKS PUTIN FOR POLITICAL HELP – GOP Members of Congress Silent

Whenever you think Trump get any worse…

Former President Trump called on Russian President Vladimir Putinto release dirt on President Biden’s son Hunter Biden during an interview published Tuesday.

“One thing, while I’m on your show, as long as Putin now is not exactly a fan of our country, let him explain, where did — because Chris Wallacewouldn’t let me ask the question — why did the mayor of Moscow’s wife give the Bidens, both of them, $3.5 million dollars? That’s a lot of money,” Trump told John Solomon and Amanda Head on the “Just the News” show on Real America’s Voice network.

Trump added that, “I would think Putin would know the answer to that. I think he should release it.”

The Seven Hour Gap!  THE SEVEN HOUR GAP, PEOPLE!!  Why is it that the media can only understand a story if it includes an easy to grasp handle?   Trump worked for months to overturn the election.    There is copious evidence of that.  He stood in front of a crowd of loons and declared it. But, now we have the SEVEN HOURS, so now they can cover it.

Sandy Hook families reject Alex Jones too little too late settlement offer.  He is deeply sorry for his bullshit and offered $125,000 per family involved in the litigation.  They rightly said – fuck off.

Garland has no fight in him, but here you go…

January 6 Panel Holds Navarro and Scavino in Contempt Then Politely Requests That Merrick Garland Do His Job and Arrest Them

The committee probing the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol voted unanimously Monday night to hold former Trump advisers Peter Navarro and Dan Scavino in contempt of Congress for stonewalling the investigation.

The committee made their case that Navarro, former President Donald Trump’s trade adviser, and Scavino, a White House communications aide under Trump, have been uncooperative in the congressional probe into the 2021 insurrection and are therefore in contempt.

Biden is doing too much and also not enough

Poll: A majority of Americans believe Biden has not been “tough enough” on Russia over its invasion of Ukraine, but are concerned about the U.S. being drawn into an all-out war

Fiery pileup kills at least three in Pennsylvania.

It you, fellow American, don’t die of disease or old age you will probably die in a car, or slipping on a wet bathroom floor.  #freedom

Violently anti-trans is just the beginning. If anyone thinks the GOP is not set on a full-blown fascist takeover you’ve got your head up your ass.

The absurd and slanderous Marjorie Taylor Greene (R–GA) made yet another one of her bizarro statements over the weekend, this time insinuating that Pete and Chasten Buttigieg spend time in girls’ bathrooms.

“Pete Buttigieg can take his electric vehicles and his bicycles, and he and his husband can stay out of our girls bathrooms,” the unhinged lawmaker said about the United States secretary of transportation to a red-capped crowd at a Trump rally. (Video below.)

Of course this is the same anti-LGBTQ Qnut who attends white nationalist rallies, harassed a Parkland parent weeks after his child was killed in the high school shooting, and pretends to believe in Jewish space lasers to spread anti-semitic conspiracy theories, among a long list of outrageously unacceptable behavior from anyone, let alone a U.S. congressperson.

By watching the antics of Marjorie Taylor Greene, Sarah Palin has recently learned that being a whack-job in congress involves very little work and reliable fundraising moolah:

Palin: … I’m going to throw my hat in the ring because we need people that have cajones. We need people like Donald Trump who has nothing to lose like me. We got nothing to lose and no more of this vanilla milquetoast namby-pamby wussy pussy stuff…

The GOP’s anti-trans one-upmanship festival of hate is unfolding at breakneck speed.

Robert Foster, a former GOP house representative in Mississippi and failed gubernatorial candidate there, has a new message he hopes will open doors for him: kill trans people and their supporters.

“Some of y’all still want to try and find political compromise with those that want to groom our school aged children and pretend men are women, etc,” he wrote on Twitter. “I think they need to be lined up against wall before a firing squad to be sent to an early judgment.”

The Mississippi Free Press contacted him; he doubled down:

“I said what I said,” he wrote, adding to what he had tweeted. “The law should be changed so that anyone trying to sexually groom children and/or advocating to put men pretending to be women in locker rooms and bathrooms with young women should receive the death penalty by firing squad.”

…here’s the headline to Jane Mayer’s New Yorker piece about Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas’s wife Ginni Thomas’s dozens of tweets to White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, imploring him to “stop the steal:”

Legal Scholars Are Shocked By Ginni Thomas’s “Stop the Steal” Texts

…people like NYU law prof Stephen Gillers are shocked enough by these texts that they’re now arguing that Clarence Thomas is legally and ethically required to recuse himself from SCOTUS cases involving the Trump administration’s attempts to overturn the election.

The larger point here is one that the elite media in this country are constitutionally incapable of ever grasping, which is that what once upon a time was the paranoid fringe of the Republican party is now the very core of that institution.

That’s why these people are somehow going to manage to be surprised when Donald Trump is the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, when this outcome is in fact practically certain, short of some extremely prejudicial medical event in the interim. They’ll also be surprised when Trump spends the entire campaign claiming the election is going to be rigged against him, and they’ll be surprised again when these claims have very negative social effects in the wake of the election, which Trump may well “win” via massive Republican state legislative skullduggery, even though Joe Biden gets ten million more votes or whatever.

Everybody in the media is mad a Joe Biden for being impolitic.  For example Fox News views Biden’s “gaffe” as far worse than Putins invasion of Ukraine.

LOS ANGELES — Thousands of central and Southern California grocery workers have voted to authorize their union to call a strike against several major supermarket chains as contract negotiations are set to resume this week.

About 47,000 workers at hundreds of Ralphs, Albertsons, Vons and Pavilions voted starting last week and the results were announced Sunday.

The possible walkout would involve grocery clerks, meat cutters, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians represented by seven locals of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union.

Pee Pee Township is one of the fourteen townships of Pike County, Ohio. The township takes its name from Pee Pee Creek; which was so named when an early settler inscribed his initials P. P. on a tree along its banks.

That’s where Briana DeSanctis is now, having crossed into Ohio a week or so ago.  I got out of the habit of following her progress when she took some time off to allow her shin splints to heel.  DeSanctis is endeavoring to be the first solo woman hiker to  hike the 5,057 mile American Discovery Trail this from Cape Henlopen Delaware to Point Reyes National Seashore in California.

Ginnie Thomas and the End of the Elite Consensus

If we elites could only get together behind closed doors and hash things out as God and nature intended – then we wouldn’t have these lower class QAnon rabble and leftist BLM whackos trying to throw the economy in the toilet.

Elites, like us, ultimately all want the same things. Stable markets, less onerous regulation, occasional insider trading info, and lower taxes for the wealthy.  Sure we’ll argue about abortion or whatever – but that is a little show for the rubes.

Coonsian bipartisanship and the fetishization of “cooperation”  isn’t so much about people with different views on the issues getting together.   It is much more classist than that.  It is about class affiliation and agreement among elites on some big worldview items, and not about political parties “finding middle ground.”

Or it was that, anyway.    It is a very strange view for Coons to continue to hold these days when the elite consensus with regard to trading off control of the White House and Congress every once in a while has completely broken down.

I mean, Ginnie Thomas is going to make the next cocktail party at Bezos Manner very awkward with her nonsense.  Very awkward, indeed.

Ketanji Brown Jackson is Not Going to Make It – I’m Sorry to Have to Break That News to You

I never thought she stood much of a chance. First of all, she made the mistake of having been nominated by a Democratic President. That’s damming info, right there. But there is also Murkowski and Collins looking wobbly as they don’t want to be seen going to bat for a child molester.

With those two gone, President Joe Manchin makes the call and you know, it is just so political and partisan to be nominating justices in this environment. Also, Biden never consulted with the GOP on this nomination. So there is that.

When she was nominated, quite a few people speculated that a lot of Republican senators would vote for Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination, given that “no” votes would almost certainly be futile. The members of the GOP’s rapidly shrinking club of senatorial bipartisan fetishists could therefore indulge their particular kink at no practical cost, with the extra added benefit for them of proving how totally not racist or sexist they were by voting for a black woman.

It’s not working out that way. After two days of mainstreaming crypto-QAnon memes by claiming that Brown Jackson is soft on child porn, it’s clear that almost no Senate Republicans are going to vote for her – maybe Our Lady of the Perpetually Furrowed Brow, and Lisa Murkowski, but that’s probably it.

The breakdown of the norm that senators in the out party should vote for a SCOTUS nominee unless the nominee was some combination of tainted by political scandal (Fortas), too obviously an undistinguished partisan hack (Haynsworth and Carswell), a jurisprudential radical (Bork), or a sexual harasser (Thomas) has been quite gradual, but it’s now apparently complete.

Sedition. Simple as That.

This statement released by Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) on the occasion of Trump pulling his endorsement of Brooks should be bombshell news that pushes all other news into irrelevance.  It will not, of course.  Our 4th estate is useless.

President Trump asked me to rescind the 2020 elections, immediately remove Joe Biden from the White House, immediately put President Trump back in the White House, and hold a new special election for the presidency. As a lawyer, I’ve repeatedly advised President Trump that January 6 was the final election contest verdict and neither the U.S. Constitution nor the U.S. Code permit what President Trump asks. Period.

I’ve told President Trump the truth knowing full well that it might cause President Trump to rescind his endorsement. But I took a sworn oath to defend and protect the U.S. Constitution. I honor my oath. That is the way I am. I break my sworn oath for no man.

Just read it again…”President Trump asked me to rescind the 2020 elections, immediately remove Joe Biden from the White House, immediately put President Trump back in the White House, and hold a new special election for the presidency.”

And yet, Trump may not even have to bother denying it.

Look at this FEMA flood zone map for Ft Dupont.   It would be funny if it were not so transparently corrupt and sickening.

Also check out the Delaware Call’s reporting on the Fort DuPont robbery.

No due diligence.  No oversight.  No workable business plan.  No shame.  Just a bunch of well connected people converting public assets into money and shoving that money into their pockets at a furious clip.

One can only conclude that Longhurst and Poore simply don’t give a fuck about looking corrupt as hell. Here is Cato the Elder on the topic, once more for good measure.

“Thieves of private property pass their lives in chains; thieves of public property in riches and luxury.”

I heard about 5 minutes of Chris Coons questioning Ketanji Brown Jackson yesterday.  He mentioned  two recent cases when Judge Jackson told Trump “I love you” and instructed liberals to go fuck themselves.  I guess his point was that Ketanji Brown Jackson will be a more conservative Justice than Clarence Thomas, and therefor Josh Hawley should vote for her.  I wonder if Chris Coons has ever heard Josh Hawley on the topic of Ketanji Brown Jackson’s fitness to serve on the Supreme Court?

Anyway, Coons is a very well liked, enormously respected figure in DC, so I guess he his his reason.

And oh yeah, I nearly forgot this part.  He used part of his time to tell Judge Brown about how he is able to work with Republicans (some of whom he disagrees vehemently with) on stuff in the spirit of bipartisanship.  It was cute the way he worked that in.
