One of these tweets makes absolutely no sense to me.

Well, I can tell you Stoller is lying about the amount of the fee. It’s generally about 2%, and no business has to accept credit cards.

So, frankly, that’s the one that makes the least sense.

    • jason330 says:

Generally, around 2% in the same way temperature in Delaware is generally around 56 Degrees. There are a large number of variables most of which drive up credit card processing costs for small timers and down for big operators. The argument is that credit card processing is infrastructure, and infrastructure should be public, not private.

Also saying that business doesn’t have to accept credit cards is a little like saying that businesses don’t have to have front doors. Technically true, but so what?

Whereas… Delaware oysters are 1) Oysters and 2) from Delaware.

      • Alby says:

I frequent several businesses that don’t take credit cards, a few of which also don’t have front doors. It’s all your priorities. If it matters that much to you, use cash. I like cash. It’s unhackable.

Also, IMHO, if we’re going to start nationalizing things, we should start with the internet, which got a big early boost from government, giving us a legitimate claim for doing so. That would help every business, and us too. So, y’know, why set off the oligarchy over such small fry? Go after the keepers.

  2. Faithful Skeptic says:

Delaware oyster farmers are worth encouraging. Coons has it right, you’ve got it wrong.

  3. RE Vanella says:

Nationalize Visa? I’m into it. Yeah. Actually I have some expertise in this area. Makes sense.

Also like Oysters. Charbroiled in New Orleans are my favorite. I’ll eat DE oysters. I’m proud of my home.

Also, internet should be nationalized. Agree.

  4. bamboozer says:

Death before oysters and damned if I care if my alleged soul is poor because of it. More for Alby that way. As for bank fees hard not to notice some local businesses require a certain purchase amount before they will accept a card, and it seems to be spreading.

Coons in the news in Jason’s favorite topic again – How much did he know and when did he know it?

Christian Group Reported Expenses for Having Russians at National Prayer Breakfast

The breakfast is run by the Fellowship Foundation, sometimes known as The Family, a secretive Christian group led by Coe for decades before his death in 2017.

Every year, the breakfast is co-chaired by one member from each party. This year’s, on Feb. 7, is being co-chaired by Sens. Chris Coons (D-DE) and James Lankford (R-OK). Coons co-chaired the 2017 breakfast with Sen. John Boozman (R-AR).

A July 2018 FBI affidavit said that an unnamed organizer of the breakfast helped Butina and Torshin get Russian guests into the breakfast.

In addition, federal tax filings show that a Seattle nonprofit called Leadership Development Seminars (LDS) reported expenses connected to guests from Russia and other former Soviet bloc nations attending the breakfast from at least 2014 through 2017, the most recent year for which tax records are available.

LDS — which says it is dedicated to leadership focused on Jesus — has strong ties to the Fellowship Foundation, including personnel, cooperation on the breakfast, and hundreds of thousands of dollars in funding.

    • Alby says:

Notice that they have to keep coming back to Coons, presumably because other Democrats know a con when they see one. Not our naif CC, though.

  6. Jason330 says:

His approach seems to be “well if my heart is in the right place and I am Continually duped , that’s on them.”

Either that or he is a cynic, using a public peity for ulterior purposes.

    Both terrible.

  7. RE Vanella says:

Bernard’s live stream has started. Organizing parties all over the country. All 50 states, DC, PR.

I feel like he’s running. Opening remarks by a wonderful activist I met this summer. I told her I was so excited to meet the “top BernieBro”.

Nina said, what? I said you, you’re the BernieBro in charge. I take my orders from you.

    She said… “Yeah, that’s right!”

    I have a dope photo.

Come on you grumpy old bastard. Get in there.
