Song Of The Day: Dec. 17, 2018
OK, most of you know that I generally can’t stand Christmas music. I’m putting up one of my few faves today. If you’ve got some special songs for the season, let me know, and you can be our guest programmer through Christmas. Until then:
Love this one and of course Linus & Lucy. And I agree, one of the very few Christmas songs I actually like.
“Fairytale of New York,” by the Pogues with Kirsty MacColl. It has been in the news a lot in the past week or so in the U.K., due to the inclusion of the word “faggot” in the lyrics. No one noticed until now?
The song is 30 years old this year, and it’s still one of the best Christmas songs ever. Video is pretty good, as well. Although the NYPD choir is shown as their pipe band.
Happy Holidays!
It’s the U.K., no doubt a reference to firewood.
Plus there’s “Beautiful Star of Bethlehem,” by Emmylou Harris; “Hail, Smiling Morn,” by Beggar’s Velvet; anything by Maddy Prior and the Carnival Band; “Shepherds Arise,” by the Albion Band; and the list goes on…
Did Ozzy do any Christmas songs?
If he did the cover band will do it, lead singer sounds a good bit like Ozzy. We keep him anyway.
Probably not for everybody, but I love these gals.

Now we’re talking music! Damn, now I’m going to spending the next couple of hours watching YouTube! R.I.P. Maggie.
I believe to this day that the only song worthy of playing around the holidays other than the tune above is Adam Sandlers Hahnuka bit.
