Another Old Warhorse, Uncle Joe, Is Acting Frisky

Filed in National by on December 4, 2018

With Bernie making campaign noises, don’t you forget about Joe. As if he’ll let you.

WDEL has an article drawn from Biden’s book tour appearance in Montana, and he sure sounds like somebody champing at the bit:

“I’ll be as straight with you as I can. I think I’m the most qualified person in the country to be president,” Biden said to applause. “The issues that we face as a country today are the issues that have been in my wheelhouse, that I’ve worked on my whole life. … I’ve been doing this my whole adult life, and the issues that are the most consequential relating to the plight of the middle class and our foreign policy are things that I have — even my critics would acknowledge, I may not be right but I know a great deal about it.”

The stumbling block, he says, is whether his family can sign on for another campaign that’s certain to be as nasty as any in American history. The other stumbling block, which he didn’t, is whether he can find someone to cough up the kind of cash it’s going to take to compete.

Here is my list of Democrats who need to stop running for President:

    1) Hillary Clinton
    2) Joe Biden
    3) Bernier Sanders
    4) John Kerry
    5) Al Gore

I propose the Great Compromise of 2019: No Democrat over the age of 70 should run for President. Goodbye Warren, Biden and Sanders. Peace in our time. It’s time for a younger generation anyway.

Like a true centrist. Negotiating away shit before the discussion begins.

    I’m a hard pass.

It was Hill’, so I went Jill.

    If it’s Biden, I’m a Green’n

    • Alby says:

      Not abidin’ Biden?

I used to vote Green for president but they stopped being all about the environment at the wrong time. It would be nice if the environmental party would lead the way on curbing carbon.

  5. delacrat says:

There’s more to politics than the environment.

I’m with Jason, all for leftist politics, but perhaps we need to remember Sen. Bill Roth. Plastic hair and all he seemed unbeatable, until he stumbled in public and reminded people how old he was. Trump and everybody on Jason’s list is one fall, one major brain fart away from the public not trusting them to lead. Fortunately that applies to Trump as well, and you know it’s coming. Hell, it’s already here.

    • Alby says:

This is pretty much my position as well. Age helped make Carper less appealing to voters than before, too, even though he prevailed.

On top of that, in Joe’s particular case, read the linked article. The guy moderating the appearance ran through the list of gaffes Trump could attack him about. It’s a long paragraph.

  7. RE Vanella says:

All this bullshit talk about compromise and youth…

…I’m just going to nip this in the bud right here.

Yeah, I’m onto what this is. Firm no dice, here.

    • Alby says:

You can’t nip it in the bud. If that’s where Wall Street puts its money, he’ll be a contender. I’d say the odds are against it, but it’s not impossible. If he catches fire with the public, they’ll back him. Who else have they got? Gillibrand and Booker. Maybe Harris. They’re not going to sit it out.
