Q: Will these election results allow John Carney to stop being such an obsequious dick to Republicans?

Filed in National by on November 9, 2018

A: Probably not. Even though he lost some of his partner in crime, he’ll still be an obsequious dick to Republicans. It is in his nature.

Also.. DelawareDem talks about the election impact a bit, and makes nice maps.

  1. No. Here’s a Carney quote from Matt Bittle’s Return Day piece:

“I think we’ll have to try to make sure we find balance,” the now Gov. Carney, who was elected in 2016, said.

John? Rethugs are only competitive in about 30% of the state. Tea Party country. The Rethugs CHOSE to align themselves with the Tea Party. You’re gonna try to find ‘balance’ with the ‘unbalanced’?

Please, just tell us you’re not running in 2020. You sound like you’re bored out of your skull.

Politics isn’t about balance. The Governor and Matt Albright have the same brain worm.

  3. More Carney idiocy from the Bittle piece:

“Gov. Carney does not see that geographical division as a problem, saying most Delawareans hold similar priorities regardless of location and party affiliation.”

Uh, no they don’t. The entire Bittle piece, which includes similar sentiments from Pistol Pete, is worth a read:

From the Matt Bittle article… Simpler: “I think the Republican Party is going to have to do some soul-searching to figure out how … do you at least message to people that your brand is distinguishable from what’s happening at the national level…”

This is bs lip service. There were PLENTY of opportunities for the Delaware Republican party and its candidates to reject the immoral and corrupt conduct of the national Republicans and Trump.

The xenophobic and racist signs put up by the 12th RRDC is an example of the state Republicans buying into the national Republican party’s warped view of the world, but Mike Smith is an example of what all other Republican candidates *should* have done by strongly rejecting it. [Hopefully, his public statements are sincere]

I actually adore the Delaware Way of civility and looking for opportunities to work together but if the leaders of the Republican Party of Delaware are too impotent to outright reject the irrational hate and fear that has infested their party, then they deserve the scorn from Delaware voters.

Ken Simpler, when a person is “soul-searching,” it’s an existential inspection of what really matters; what is real justice; what is right and wrong; what can I do that can really make a difference? “Soul-searching” is NOT a superficial rebranding to trick the public into thinking that Delaware Republicans are really Democrats with an MBA. Instead of having donors drop $50k for your pseudo-campaign committee, get them to give a home to a homeless vet; someone that knows public service is a sacrifice and not a stepping stone for power.

“Brain Worm”, good name for a punk band. On the other hand there is no fixing or awaking Carney, eyes on the prize and get this guy a primary.

It’s in the works, bam my friend

I feel like El Som is trolling me picking these ridiculous Carney quotes. Sussex voted for that diarrhea-brained ghoul Rob Arlett and this shitbird governor has the minerals to say we hold similar priorities.

      Hahahaha.

  5. Dave says:

Politics may not be about balance, but governing sure as hell is. Conducting policy, actions, and affairs of state all require balance between often competing objectives, wants, and needs.

Trump is what happens when people forget that. What we have today is too much politics and not enough governing. Politics is about acquiring power. Governing is about using that power for the public good. One of the reasons people have opted out the whole mess is that no one does governing any more.

      Dave 2020!

    • RE Vanella says:

This is very quiant and a nice sentiment.

Democrats are such high-minded and dignified losers.

        • RE Vanella says:

Republicans are more confident in defeat than Democrats are in victory.

You’re not running a fucking business. You’re executing public policy. If reactionary rubes don’t like it, marginalize them politically and move on.

This strategy of giving your political enemy and the minority equal footing as you is a loser mentality. Hence, we never get anything nice.

The idea that I should give one flying fuck what a piece of trash bigot like Dave Lawson thinks is a bad plan and I won’t sign on to it.
