Oct. 30 Open Thread: Domestic Terrorists 13, Foreigners 0
Trump is upset that some of his biggest fans are killing people — not because he doesn’t like them killing people, but he just doesn’t like it happening when he’s got other plans for the nation’s front pages and chyrons. That plan was to further demonize a ragtag band of about 3,000 poor Hondurans as riddled with terrorists, rapists and murderers. Even a dedicated liar like Trump will have a hard time pretending that immigrants cause crime when studies show the opposite is true: American-born citizens commit crimes at a significantly higher rate.
In addition to sending federal troops to the border, Trump is moving to end birthright citizenship, Constitution be damned. Lindsey Graham, Trump’s new favorite lapdog, said he will introduce legislation to that effect, since Trump’s “executive order” about it won’t override the 14th Amendment. Graham’s bill will never pass, but it will be useful to get all the GOP traitors on the record backing yet another fascist policy.
VP Mike Pence has taken the opportunity to remind us he’s a theocratic loon, appearing at somebody’s campaign rally with a “rabbi” who’s actually part of a tiny group of Jews for Jesus, which Josh Marshall points out is actually an attack on Judaism by those least Christian of Christians, the fundamentalism asshole choir.
Finally, Eugene Robinson joins the brigade of journalists pointing out that no, both sides don’t do it. Unfortunately, only journalists with opinion columns are free to say so.

After this election I really want to sit down with a Trump supporter and chat for a bit. I don’t think I’m going to understand them after a chat, and lord knows nobody is going to change anyone’s mind – but I want to try and understand them.
I’ve talked to several Trump supporters while out knocking doors, and they’ve ranged everywhere from very positive to abjectly hostile. It certainly hasn’t left me with an objective view, but it’s given me some insights that I didn’t have before.
I might do a write up after the election, just to share what I’ve seen.

Good luck there Jason, actually it depends on how rabid the Trump supporter is, a mild case can hold a civil conversation, hard core other than screaming no. Jews For Jesus, have not heard that one in 40 years since I left Long Island, do remember the Jews hated them as “assimilators” and enemies of the faith. I laughed as soon as I read Trump would try to contravene the 14th amendment by executive order, shows a profound lack of knowledge of the constitution and the government.
