More Delaware Way Shit: Helene Keeley Edition

Filed in Delaware by on October 23, 2018

The insiders sure know how to take care of their own. State Rep. Helene Keeley, who is retiring both from her state rep gig and her, wait for it, ‘community outreach officer’ gig, has coincidentally landed a job as–Deputy Director for the Delaware State Lottery.  The new position pays roughly the equivalent for her previous two state jobs combined. Along with her legislative pension. Here’s the story.

The Delaware Way stench continues unabated. BTW, we still haven’t heard why Patti Blevins resigned from her golden parachute job after only a matter of months.

Good for her. Why not take a good job offer?

  2. Oh, I don’t know, AQC. Maybe b/c once again the job wasn’t posted but was handed to an ex-legislator. Oh, and sitting on the gaming committee doesn’t qualify someone for such an important position as the #2 person in charge of one of Delaware’s many fiscal goldmines.

It’s not so much that she got the job, but that nobody else was considered. As is the modus operandi when it comes to the connected. That, and the fact that she’s not qualified.

I’m convinced all the good state jobs are handed out like party favors regardless.
The posting and subsequent interviews are only to make the process seem legit.

If your definition of a good state job is one where little actual work is required, I think you are probably correct.

According to the article the position was unfilled for two years. Lavelle has a lengthy post attached to the article and no doubt Spadola will pick it up to.

News flash: all the good private jobs go to insiders or chosen favorites too. Most job postings are just a show of due diligence.

Agreed, the spoils system is alive and well in Delaware despite the law. As noted they go thru the motions and like magic the job goes to the insider, or relative, of choice.

How many Leadership Delaware clones has Simpler hired? Spadola? Republicans shouldn’t throw stones.
