My Letter to the Editor in Response to Matt Albright’s Dumb Bullshit

Filed in National by on October 22, 2018

In a recent editorial Engagement Editor, Matthew Albright, claimed that he “can’t wait to vote against Trump.” He claims to be “no fan of President Donald Trump” and offers the Trump administration’s dismantling of environmental regulations to illustrate why voters should vote against Trump. And yet Albright is willing to pass up a great opportunity to vote against Trump by voting against Trump’s Republican supporters in Delaware.

A vote for Ken Simpler, for example, is a vote for Donald Trump. A vote for Ernie Lopez is a vote for Trump. It is Republicans like Simpler and Lopez who have remained silent on the President’s abuses of power that allow Trump to continue being the horrible President Albright, very rightly, perceives him to be.

Delaware loves its tradition of bipartisanship, but we all know that this election is unique. There is one issue on the ballot, and the issue is Donald Trump. Even the President himself has claimed that a vote for a Republican is “a vote for me and our agenda to make America great again.” All Democrats and all people of goodwill must allow the President’s words to ring in their ears this November and vote accordingly.

Signed,

You don’t have to vote for Democrats because you hate Donald Trump. You can also vote for Democrats because you hate Mitch McConnell.

  2. puck says:

Anyway, Albright is a self confessed registered independent who complains he feels disenfranchised because he can’t vote in party primaries, and he wishes Delaware were more like his Louisiana home.

  3. Yo, Matt: Greg Lavelle’s opposition to protecting a woman’s right to health care choices has EVERYTHING to do with Trump and the two anti-Roe justices he and McConnell have shoehorned onto the Supreme Court. He also cast a vote that kept an assault weapons ban from a floor vote. And he mouths Trumpian talking points at every turn.

Oh, and Simpler and Kavanaugh might just as well be brothers. Fraternity brothers.

WTF is WRONG with you? Got a job lined up if things go well for your guys? If so, you should probably take a leave of absence now.

In the interest of, you know, journalistic ethics.

The NJ looks to be all in for Team GOP this round.

There is a glowing piece on the Maverick Scott Walker online, and I guess that is cued up for the Dead Tree Edition tomorrow. Scott Motherfucking Walker. Really NJ? REALLY?

    I like Matt & he’s a friend of mine.

His problem is actually pretty common. He doesn’t understand the first thing about how politics work.

This massive delusion is entrenched the more time one spends in Dover. Because you’re more confident in dangerous and misguided ideas.

Plus with Matt he’s very polite and sincere. So it’s difficult to explain what dumb fuck political ideas he has.

….He’s a good editor though. I can tell you from personal experience.

    • Maybe you can talk some sense into him…

      • RE Vanella says:

His politics are garbage, bro. For real. It a shame.

I find it odd when working people who have the corporate boot on their throats buy into this neoliberal trash.

But when the Ed Board gets hours of sit downs with Coons, Biden, Carney… You think you’re part of it. (You’re not.)

Can you imagine a guy carrying water for a newspaper corporation like USA Today / Gannett & buying this bullshit.

        It’s fascinating…

You would think reporters and journos would understand it better than anyone.

        • mediawatch says:

You nailed that pretty well. Working in the media brings you access to the powerful, but sucking up to them makes you their tool. You wind up with far less influence than you imagine yourself to have.

            • mediawatch says:

Good reporters know a hell of a lot about their content areas, but they are incredibly insulated/isolated from reality. They typically have no clue as to how businesses operate and they seldom get inside how governmental/political decisions are made or how campaigns are run. They rely on what their sources tell them. When I was younger I thought I was a decent reporter and editor, but I’m quite certain I know much more now that I’ve worked in the real, non-journalistic world.

    • jason330 says:

I second all the stuff about Albright being a nice guy.

  6. mouse says:

Ok I admit it, I’m voting against 45 because I’m
    prejudiced against white trash

  7. jason330 says:

Albright’s headline in today’s dead tree edition for my letter is much better than mine.

    “This election is about Trump”

    Short, sweet and 100% accurate.

  8. RE Vanella says:

Read it on the bus and smiled.
