The News Journal’s Scott Goss Breaks His Back Carrying Water for Lavelle

Filed in National by on October 20, 2018

Unable to defend himself, Lavelle fed the News Journal this red-herring story.

Two of Gov. John Carney’s appointees are coming under fire for using a series of political action committees to successfully help unseat a Democratic state legislator.

The tip off that this is all about Lavelle trying to muddy the water around his own criminal activity comes at the very bottom of the story when Lavelle denies that this has anything to do with his illegal PAC coordination:

Lavelle’s complaint is somewhat unusual in that it comes from a high-ranking Republican and accuses two prominent Democrats of working to defeat another Democrat.

It also comes just days after the Delaware Democratic Party filed a complaint with the Delaware Elections Department accusing Lavelle and state Treasurer Ken Simpler of illegally coordinating with PACs supporting their respective campaigns

  1. Election. Deflection.

Might I point out that this appears to be a desperate response by a candidate who is losing his shit and losing his reelection bid?

I don’t think his attempt to go negative will deter female voters from kicking him out of the Senate. Just ain’t enough pedophile priests in the 4th to reelect him.

Interesting, a home grown pot boiler of politics just before the election.

If the News Journal wasn’t in the bag for Lavelle, the fact that Lavelle is being investigated for illegal PAC coordination would have been in the second paragraph, not the 32nd.

  4. Meh. That paper is so embarrassing that I think it’s merely journalistic tone-deafness.

All I know is that he ain’t gonna gain a single vote by throwing that shit out there. I think he’s in checkmate.

Busy Individuals Make Better Organizers— BIMBO PAC? Gotta give the Dems credit for having a sense of humor

  6. You Dont Get It says:

The News Journal is not read with any sincerity, give it a rest.

  7. Rufus Y. Kneedog says:

That story is mighty weak tea. They are not elected officials and everything was fully disclosed in campaign finance reports. No idea why that much column space was wasted on it.

    • I think the real story is that an endangered incumbent with a far more substantive campaign accusation facing him felt the need to throw something that weak out there.

      He’s got nothin’.

I am sure what took place was wrong, but if it got Potter out of office I say hurray. He has not been on his TV show The Bottom Line since he lost, so what does it say about how he really feels about is constituents. He was only in it for the $$$$.

Since you all think TNJ has declined so much (not saying you’re wrong), what’s the best media outlet in the state? Aren’t a ton of options.
