I agree with Donald Trump Jr. – Fuck Joe Manchin

Filed in National by on October 6, 2018

No sooner had Joe Manchin announced that he would be voting for Brett Kavanaugh, Donald Trump Jr. trolled him with this tweet

A real profile in courage from Lyin’ liberal @JoeManchinWV. Waited until Kavanugh had enough votes secured before he announced his support. I bet he had another press release ready to go if Collins went the other way.

West Virginia – Vote for champion @MorriseyWV!

…and he is right. Manchin deserves all the scorn Trump Jr (and the voters of West Virginia) can heap on him.

When Democrats give voters the choice between a real Republican and a fake Republican the only reasonable choice for Republicans is to vote for the real Republican. Similarly, the only reasonable choice for Democrats is to not vote.

When Democrats vote for collaborationist lackeys like Manchin who support the GOP in their ongoing criminal and anti-American activities, all they are doing is weakening the efforts of Democrats who are trying to oppose the GOP in their ongoing criminal and anti-American activities.

Bottom line – Fuck Joe Manchin.

Agreed! It’s happened in Delaware, the opposite way. As soon as Cloutier votes YES, one or two Democrats suddenly waltz in from their office with their votes. Thankfully, it hasn’t happened in couple of years as most folks smell through this tactic.

When our host says that he is “a deep cover double agent working for the GOP,” I’ve finally begun to believe him!

So, you would rather that the voters of West Virginia elect state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey instead of Joe Manchin? Well, I’d rather that happened, too! The most important votes that senators cast are the very first ones of the session, the votes which determine the Senate leadership. Why is Merrick Garland not a Supreme Court Justice? Because Mitch McConnell runs the Senate, and he determined that there would be no confirmation vote on Judge Garland.

If Chuck Schumer ran the Senate, neither Neil Gorsuch nor Brett Kavanaugh would be on the Supreme Court, because the Democrats could have, and would have, blocked their confirmation.

Who knows? Maybe, just maybe, the leadership of the Senate beginning in 2019 will depend on the vote of the Senator from West Virginia!

Hate to say it but Bernie showed the Dems the way and they failed to get it, you cannot be timid about advancing what you want, you cannot hide, deny or cower from what the party needs to be. And yet that’s what we get from Manchin. We need to return to the New Deal mentality and never shrink from a fight to defend it.

    • Dana says:

Yet what did Senator Sanders do? He challenged Hillary Clinton in the primaries, but when she won, he supported her; he didn’t go off and say, “F(ornicate) her; vote for Trump!”

The TEA Party got it right: they raised primary challenges, and won a few. Some of those winners wound up losing the general election, but in those races where the TEA Party candidate lost the primary, they didn’t desert the more establishment Republican who won.

If missing the point was an olympic sport our poor Dana would be Greg Louganis. Here he comes right up to the point and still misses it.

    Yep

Dana, God bless you. You really try. It isn’t your fault really that you can’t see the big picture. But for the love of god or whatever, have a sense of your mental limitations.

  6. Faithful Skeptic says:

@Jason330, pay attention here. Dana has made the most important point — having a MAJORITY of the Senate and electing Schumer (or whoever) as the Majority Leader. If you succeed in taking out Manchin and we wind up one vote short of the majority, whose fault is that? My money is on those who cannot stand any sort of deviation from left principles, even when it’s necessary in the face of one’s constituency.

Remember Obama’s position on Joe Lieberman? We left him alone because we needed his vote to hold the Senate majority after BHO won in 2008.

I can’t believe I have to explain this to you, but I’ll try.

What good is a the kind of tenuous, shaky, insecure, unreliable, vulnerable, flimsy, Center Right majority we get with Machin?

I’m not interested in crumbs. The whole rotten edifice needs to come down. The GOP didn’t win the Senate majority by accomodating people like Lincoln Chafee. And don;t you dare try to pass Susan Collins off as an example of a “moderate.” She votes with Trump 80% of the time and is a solid right-wing vote.

So no. The Dem strategy is trying to finesse a majority isn’t working, has not worked, and will not work. Fuck Manchin.
