Soon we will be asked to accept that Brett Kavanaugh is a wise and even-handed judge

Filed in National by on October 5, 2018

Chris Coons will be leading the march to rehabilitate Judge Drunky Blackout-Rapist. Why? Because we all have to pretend that the Supreme Court is virtuous, great and mighty and that the Senate that voted him in is dignified and above board.

Pretend, pretend, pretend or it all comes crashing down. Duncan Black said it first, and better.

This will be the impulse if Kavanaugh is confirmed. For the good of the country, we must respect the majesty of the Senate and the glory of our constitution and most of all the supreme respectability and nonpartisanitude of the Supreme Court and the majest of the LAW. Whatever the reality.

Pressures to conform will be high. Pointing out that the club is maggot infested garbage is the quickest way to get yourself kicked out of the club.

It will still fall to assholes like me* on the internet.

Yep, it’s “the system worked time!” yet again and all will praise the greatness of the court. Not me, I see the court as a failed and dangerous entity, especially when they seem hell bent of pouring gasoline on the nations self hatred. Overturn Roe Vs. Wade and the real fun begins, I can see assorted red state governors calling out the National Guard on protestors. With Kavanaugh the last shreds of impartiality fall away, and the naked agenda of the far right exposed.

Coons had a “constructive” chat with Flake.

    LMFAO

“We had a positive and I think constructive conversation. He gave me an opportunity to make a few points I was eager to make,” Coons told reporters in the Capitol before the vote. “We spoke about our remaining concerns.”

    Coons is such a joke.

  3. puck says:

If Democrats regain the Senate, Coons will be the first one calling to bring back the 60-vote filibuster on court confirmations.

  4. puck says:

Maybe, but not before we use the next majority to put two or three center-left justices on the Supreme Court.

  5. jason330 says:

With the court firmly in the hands of partisan Republicans, Democrats might have to get some coherent policies in place, pass some legislation, and stop lazily using the courts in lieu of doing the work.

Believe that golden age passed with the appointment of Scalia, Thomas, Roberts etc. But I certainly agree, the party still lacks a coherent message and now relies on groups like the #Metoo movement. Clear as a bell is that no help is coming from the DNC and party elite.

We knew it would decend into a darker and darker reactionary hellscape. This was expected. Steel yourselves. Fight on.

Here are some relevant words from the late, great Howard Zinn.

Don’t Despair about the Supreme Court

It would be naive to depend on the Supreme Court to defend the rights of poor people, women, people of color, dissenters of all kinds.
