Dear Rethug Senators…This Is All It Would Take

Filed in National by on September 25, 2018

First, spare me the histrionics of the ‘on-the-fence’ senators agonizing over your Kavanaugh votes.

It’s real simple, here’s all you have to do, and you’ve put the ball where it belongs:

Announce that you can’t vote for Kavanaugh until/unless there is an FBI background check.

See? It ends your public agony, which we all see through. Either Trump calls for the background checks or he doesn’t have the votes.

Until or unless two Rethug senators call for this, anything and everything you say is utter bullshit.

You’re welcome.

  1. Jason330 says:

Some fools still think Susan Collins is going to have a “Aaron Sorkin moment” and give some impassioned speech about America and doing the right thing.

    Idiots.

  2. bamboozer says:

Will not happen, it’s Republican time to march in lock step. The truth about what happened doesn’t matter to the Republicans and justice concerns them not. A back round check is warranted but will not happen, the Republicans are scared that a generation of controlling the court is slipping away and will do anything to make it happen.

  3. Jason330 says:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said in a Tuesday press conference that he believes he has the votes to confirm Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

“I believe he’ll be confirmed, yes,” McConnell said when asked if he had the votes.

Earlier in the press availability, McConnell said he was “confident we’re going to win.”

Even the morons who are not running again are afraid of the wingnut mob.

  4. Alby says:

GOP senators assert they will confirm Kavanaugh regardless of whatever comes out. Doesn’t this amount to “lay back and enjoy it”?

Whatever the issue, the Republican position is to assert authority and control. Unless you’re a business, in which case you’re Brett Kavanaugh, a fine young man/institution, and attacking it proves you’re a commie.

And some people think we should unite with these primitive creatures because we all live in the same “country.”

  5. Rethugs have moved Judiciary Committee vote to Friday morning.

They’re gonna ram it through, all right. Either Collins is in the bag, and/or Manchin or Heitkamp are closet yeses.

    • Jason330 says:

      Machin and Collins. I’m thinking.

      • Heitkamp is even worse than Manchin. She’ll think that this will give her cover in her reelection bid. It will do the opposite. The women she needs for reelection aren’t going to go all-out for her if she betrays the cause.

  6. RE Vanella says:

The only miniscule silver spec in the other shit stained schmatta is I think McConnell, et al know the midterms are fucked either way. So fucking throw a Hail Mary. Worked with Garland.

    Last ditched effort.

The Supreme Court will be hard Catholic fundie right for a generation.

Know what, grab that dirty rag. I feel sick.

  7. Mike Dinsmore says:

Did anyone see the screenshot of the Kavanaugh yearbook page? He appears to be a member of the “Rehobeth (sic) Police Fan Club (with Shorty).” Wonder what that’s all about.

Also, what is the “Beach Week Ralph Club”?

    • Alby says:

“Ralph” is a euphemism for vomit.

      • Mike Dinsmore says:

Figured that. 🙂 According to the yearbook entry for dear Brett, Maureen was the biggest contributor to the “Ralph Club.”

Classy guy, even as a preppy. Wasn’t there a yearbook advisor to sift through all of these comments and remove the ones that were in poor (read: “bad”) taste? I was a yearbook advisor for three years, and if I’d let comments like that get through, they’d have had my guts for garters!

  8. More proof that the fix is in: Alaska’s Lisa Murkowski said tonight that, although she’d like to see an FBI investigation, only the White House can order one.

Ignoring the obvious. If she and one other Rethug make their yes votes contingent on an FBI investigation, either Trump orders one, or Kavanaugh goes down.

The fact that she doesn’t even hint at that possibility demonstrates that the criminal conspiracy that is the national Republican Party continues unabated.

    Kavanaugh will be confirmed.

    • Alby says:

Well, duh. That was always going to happen. The investigations can begin in January.

      • jason330 says:

I hate to always be an “X’s and O’s” guy, but it isn’t awful for Dem mid-term turnout if black out drunk, afluenza dick gets rammed into the court by Baron von Turtle .

And he has lied so much during his confirmation, it might be easier to get rid of the black out drunk, afluenza dick than it would be to get rid of the next a-hole in line.

  9. RE Vanella says:

Folks, it’s that time again. I’m headed to DC tomorrow to put my body in the street.

Like I wrote yesterday. Seems like this thing is coming to a head. Now’s the time. The status quo is absolutely unsustainable.

Before long we’re not going to have many options left.

“There is a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can’t take part. You can’t even passively take part! And you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you’ve got to make it stop! And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it — that unless you’re free the machine will be prevented from working at all!” —Mario Savio, December 2, 1964
