Rosenstein has been summoned to the White House where it’s expected that he will be asked to resign.  Rosenstein will reportedly refuse, at which point Trump will likely fire him.

Shit just got more real.

Word is he’s resigning rather than have someone other that Trump fire him. The question remains is this the prequel to firing Mueller and what would be the timing of that event, before or after the election. Suspect Trump is being cautioned to do it post election, but as ever it’s doubtful Trump can show restraint, not a known quality for toddlers in their seventies.

If I had to guess, I’d say this is Trump’s reaction to the Kavanaugh conflagration — his thinking being, if the current course leads to loss of Congress there’s nothing to lose by throwing things into total chaos.

  3. Well, there’s little doubt that this will at least to some extent shake up the Mueller probe. Rosenstein’s in charge of overseeing it…for a few more minutes. We’re headed for a constitutional crisis.

yeah, another not face to face via tweet firing. He’s such a man’s man

  5. You may be correct. Rosenstein’s in DC, Trump’s in NYC.

How do you figure Rosenstein is going to refuse to resign based on this?

WASHINGTON — Rod J. Rosenstein, the deputy attorney general, was considering resigning on Monday, days after private discussions were revealed in which he talked about invoking the 25th Amendment to remove President Trump from office and secretly taping him to expose chaos in the administration.

Over the weekend, Mr. Rosenstein called a White House official and said he was considering quitting,

    • Based on reporting/speculation on MSNBC from Rosenstein’s people who say that he will force them to fire him. The NYTimes speculates that he will resign. Both can’t be true. Bottom line: I don’t know, and nobody but perhaps Rosenstein knows.

Of course, it’s even possible that he and Kelly will just have a ‘clearing the air’ meeting. But it’s not likely.

The NYT reporting on this has been shit.

BTW, that reminds me… See Michael Moore’s Farenhiet 11/9

  8. The latest is that Rosenstein and Trump will meet on Thursday.

Rosenstein has left the White House, at least for today, with nothing resolved.

Read that Times piece a little more closely. The sources were 2nd and 3rd hand.

The great crime journalist and writer David Simon has called it malpractice:

God I hope the Republicans lose a
    historically embarrassing election

  11. Thursday, Thursday…isn’t something ELSE supposed to take place on Thursday? Like the Ford/Kavanaugh hearings?

What’s the over/under on at least one of the two events not happening on Thursday? If at all?

  12. RE Vanella says:

CIA Supervisor (JK Simmons): Jesus Fucking Christ. What did we learn, Palmer?

Palmer (David Rasche): I don’t know sir.

    CIA Supervisor: I don’t fucking know either…

… I guess we learned not to do it again.

I’m fucked if I know what we did.

Palmer: Yes sir, it’s hard to say.
