This Is What Passes for Republican ‘Ethics’

Filed in National by on September 21, 2018

Sexual assault allegations about Brett Kavanaugh continue to reveal the uglier side of Republicans, who can’t seem to stop themselves from maligning the woman who raised them.

Keep in mind, these people, just like the rest of us, cannot know what happened at a high school party 30-odd years ago. But none of them, from the lowliest commenter here to the president himself, has hesitated to claim to know the motives of a woman none of them had heard of until last week.

None of them, however, can top the antics of Ed Whelan, who is the president of something called the Ethics and Public Policy Center. Based on his own “sleuthing,” Whelan claimed Blasey Ford likely mixed up Brett Kavanaugh with a Georgetown Prep classmate. Then he posted a photo of the classmate, his Facebook profile, and the location of his high school home, maintaining that the layout of this home fit Christine Blasey Ford’s description of the house where her attack took place. As if Kavanaugh couldn’t also be at the party anyway.

This is the fucking president of an “ethics” center. I’d ask where they find these cretins, but I know damn well where they find them — at America’s rich snot academies. They look for the ones with liquor on their breath and a silver spoon lodged in their cheek.

Whelan apologized this morning, probably after he realized that speculating about the guilt of someone who isn’t involved in the case exposed him to serious legal jeopardy in a libel suit.

Daily Kos’ Mark Sumner also points out that Whelan is closely involved in the Kavanaugh candidacy, and wonders whether Kavanaugh himself helped hatch this theory.

And Hillary wasn’t that???? Really AL? Oh, no silver spoon in her mouth?
That is right, I’m so sorry, they left the White house poor.

    Concerning Kavanaugh:

No woman should be taken advantage of! But….

And after all these years, why is this lady coming out now?

Why didn’t she say something when he became a judge, before?

Why didn’t Feinstein, bring this up earlier?

  3. Alby says:

“And Hillary wasn’t that???? Really AL? Oh, no silver spoon in her mouth?”

Actually, no, she was upper-middle class, but not rich. This is easily ascertained if you knew how to look things up instead of just complaining all the time.

“That is right, I’m so sorry, they left the White house poor.’

Again, look it up, you lazy fuck. So many Republicans filed lawsuits against him, for no better reason than they’re sore losers, that they were almost penniless. They got rich once the book deals and speaking fees started rolling in.
But what does any of this have to do with Hillary? Don’t you realize robots are already doing your job of trolling liberal sites?

“And after all these years, why is this lady coming out now?”

Because they were about to elevate this privileged prick to the Supreme Court.

“Why didn’t Feinstein, bring this up earlier?”

Why should she have? What’s your rush? Merrick Garland was never given a hearing at all.

Grow a brain, moran. You’re too stupid to hang here. Next time, formulate answers instead of asking questions. I’m humoring you this time, but next time I’ll just delete the comment if you have nothing to add to the discussion — and make no mistake, this comment added nothing to the discussion.

Al, he was a judge before. Nominated to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, by Bush in 2003. There was a hearing then, so WHY did she not step up and speak out?

“Again, look it up, you lazy fuck. ” Really, get a life, AL!

Grow a brain, “moran”? Don’t you mean Moron?

Well, your the big blogger now, ha-ha. You like to belittle people and that’s were it ends! Of course you’ll have the last word………………….

    • Alby says:

She had no obligation to do anything, pal. None. She owes you no explanation, either.

I have a life. “Moran” is how people in the Tea Party spelled “moron,” and you seem like a Tea Partier, whining about your taxes all the time and breathing through your slack jaw.

Big blogger? What the fuck is wrong with you? I don’t like to belittle people. I’d much prefer you to be gone to having to belittle you so you’ll leave. I think the world needs much more belittlement of your sort, because, after all, you’re so small.

As everyone but you can see, I do a lot more here than belittle people. But, as you have demonstrated for years over at That Other Blog, you have nothing of substance to say. Why you insist on talking anyway is something for the psychiatrists to figure out.

If you want the last word, I suggest you start your own blog. Nobody’s stopping you.

  5. RE Vanella says:

The “why” is of course totally irrelevant. Nice effort though, bud.

  6. Anono says:

If he was nominated before, why not do it sooner than later? That is all I’m asking? Is it just because, he is being nominated to THE highest court??

And yes she owes an explanation on the allegations, Al!

    • Alby says:

Ask away. As I said, nobody owes you an explanation, and you have done nothing to try to figure this out on your own. Hundreds of thousands of words have already been written on this; I know because I’ve read a lot of them. I suggest you do the same.

And no, she doesn’t owe an explanation. You can stomp your feet forever and it won’t change that. Following politics is your hobby. This is her life. Nice of you to give her so much of your compassionate consideration.

    • RE Vanella says:

Why are you an anonymous coward who asks irrelevant questions? We deserve answers.

    • Dana Garrett says:

So you think that a person has to be psychologically ready to relive a traumatic experience anytime her abuser is up for any high office? Sorry, psychological need doesn’t work on your political timetable. She’s ready now and you have already dismissed what she will say because you don’t like the timing of when she’s saying it. Clearly, empathy and psychological acumen are not your strong suits.
