Are Del Dems Even Really Going After Simpler?
When speaking with the Inertcept’s Ryan Grim about the “Delaware Way,” I mentioned that the Dem’s going soft on Simpler seemed like the last gasp of the clubby system that allowed moderate Republicans and Democrats to trade offices back and forth like twins sharing clothes.
I don’t know if that is true, but it seems to me like Simpler is getting a pass. The election is (_X_) days away and I know virtually nothing about Coleen Davis.
Here is a link to her website. If anyone has any evidence that the high Dems have not pre-ceded this office to the GOP, I’d be eager to hear it.
No, they’re not going after Simpler. They’re too busy trying to get their own Republican, Kathy McGuiness, installed in office.
That’s true. It also occurs to be that a Davis statewide win is another hungry rookie on the bench glaring at the players on the field looking for the screw up.
It is little wonder a screw up prone Chris Coons (for example) wants no part of a Davis win.
Simply Simpering Simpler
The Party’s State Chair recruited Colleen Davis to run and the Party is putting all its resources behind her and the rest of the ticket. The recently resigned NCC Republican chair made it clear that Simpler is the expected candidate against John Carney in 2020-if he is re-elected this year. Defeating him now is a priority.
I don’t know the rules of evidence on something like this. I guess testimony is a form of evidence, but my “Law and Order” viewing never really covered that.
Why would you have to defeat John Carney’s expected candidate now? If John Carney had any political skills at all he wouldn’t have to worry about his re-election.
If you really cared about the office you would have put your gal Kathy up for it.
“the Party is putting all its resources behind her and the rest of the ticket. ”
Well, with you and “the Party” on her side defeat is assured.
Mitch is in the news .

The sooner this clown leaves Delaware the better off the Democratic Party will be.
The note about him being a former judge doesn’t mention that it was in Pennsylvania, where they elect judges so any fool can become one.
I like the part where he accuses the woman of writing an anonymous letter about him because the letter included a phrase that is used in relation to slavery. He doesn’t even know how to jump to premature conclusions properly.
What a sad clusterfuck.
Her stare screams vacuousness. I like her!
hoo boy
She’s pretty and not a republican, why wouldn’t everyone vote for her?
Isn’t that why Park City Kathy is on the ticket?
Mitch’s explanation leaves a lot to be desired. Makes Colleen seem like a pawn, rather than the qualified candidate she actually is. She’s a hard worker and is extremely likable. From what I’ve seen of her campaign in the year of the woman, she’ll give him a run for his money.
She does appear to be the daughter of former Sussex Republican Chairman Billy Carroll, who was a delegate to the Trump RNC and is now supporting Davis’ campaign. So that’s one reason to think maybe Erik and Jesse maybe did a shitty job screening her.
Nobody can out stealth Simpler. Ken is the stealth Republican in the race. It is his whole deal.
Because no one is allowed to have different politics from their parents.
Right? And sure he is going to support her. Duh.
All I can say is I met Colleen Davis at the Arden Fair. She came across as really sharp. Not vacuous at all. She also didn’t hesitate to engage voters. I’m impressed by her and intend to support her. Seems like we’re getting more than a little shit shoveled her way, but I don’t think she deserves it. Especially when contrasted with the crew-cut brigade that represented Simpler at the Fair.
I suggest that those of you who are shoveling that shit at least take the time to meet her. Maybe you’ll be as impressed as I was.
I don’t doubt that Colleen Davis is a good, hard working candidate. But I guess I feel like this campaign the way you felt about the Kerri Harris campaign early on.
Where is it?
Not vacuous at all.
Fucking donviti back one day.
All hail donviti!
Go off, king.
Simpler stands no chance against Carney, none at all.
Carper and Castle practically Gay lovers had the same non aggression pact, neither had a worthwhile opponent and their unholy alliance set the state back a generation.
We see the decline now, an economy in the toilet, no future for young kids and a the only major city is Murder Capital USA.
“practically Gay lovers”
Nice case of homophobia you got there. Also, quite a whine. The economy is the same here it is everywhere else, which has nothing to do with government, other than your clown party fucking it up by giving tax breaks to people who don’t need the money. “No future” for young kids? What, they’re all going to drop dead at 18?
And Wilmington’s murder rate has dropped quite a bit. Try to keep up.
Colleen who? Her website isn’t the website of a serious candidate. Simpler is running unopposed. Democrats will regret this. Carney will win but Simpler will make it close and help down ballot.
This might be the single stupidest prediction I’ve seen this election cycle. Simpler will not make it close. He’s an empty suit running on the discredited philosophy of a discredited party that won’t exist in 10 years.
He can keep it around 10 points. That’s progress for the Republicans.
The only reason any Republican will do that well is Carney’s utter incompetence and the Democrats’ eternal corruption.
One of Simpler’s first moves was to transfer the states deferred compensation plan from Fidelity to Voya. The moved received very little attention. Unlike Fidelity, Voya has few low fee options, but many high fee laden products. Fidelity had been the state’s provider since the early 80’s. Luckily I retired from several months before the move was made and was able to roll my deferred comp into my Fidelity IRA.
High fees negatively affect your overall returns. This clearly wasn’t in the best interest of state workers. One has to wonder who the really benefited from this move.
Given the corruption that seems rampant in today’s Republican party I think I know the answer.
“Voya has few low fee options, but many high fee laden products”
Do any of those high fees apply to state funds or to individual pensioner accounts? and as always, cui bono? Sounds like a job for an investigative reporter.
It’s been forwarded to the proper folks for vetting. Always skeptical of anonymous comment, but this seems like it could be something.
Unlike Trump’s my people are literally the best people. Let’s see…
Organizations that make moves or even leave the status quo where it is clearly not in the best interests of their employees have been getting sued in class action lawsuits. The lawyers have been circling for years now, no investigative journalists needed. Google 403b lawsuit.
I think Simpler is probably a lot smarter than that.
The chances of Simpler winning re-election are pretty low because look at the rest of the GOP down the ticket… GOP voters aren’t too excited
Incumbency is a huge advantage. At best this is a toss-up and only a toss-up if Dems are overturning police cars on their way to vote.
Davis has no name recognition.
She may have benefited from a primary.
