Boola Boola, Sons of Eli: Coons Hasn’t Renounced Fellow Yalie Kavanaugh Yet
If Chris Coons’ bipartisanship was supposed to buy him a hearing with Republicans, now would be an excellent the time for him to speak out publicly against Brett Kavanaugh (Yale Law ’87). As the folks at Daily Kos remind me daily, Coons (Yale Law ’92) is among the few Democrats who has not yet done so, and his constant media appearances certainly give him a ready platform. Here’s the email:
“Your Senator is one of only 4 Democrats on the committee who has not publicly come out to say they will vote “no” on Kavanaugh.
They may have done an admirable job on the committee asking tough questions, but what we need now is for them to follow what most Senate Democrats have already done: publicly state that they will be voting “no.”
Call Senator Christopher A. Coons at (202) 224-5042. When you reach an aide, leave the following message:
Hello, my name is [state your name] calling from zip code [your ZIP here]. Please come out publicly against confirming Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, as most Senate Democrats have. If we are going to stop this extremist, we need as many senators to come out against him. No more excuses, time is running out.”
I recommend riffing off that script rather than reading it verbatim. And stay calm; the kid is just doing his/her/their job.
Call made, gave message to the aide who answered the phone.
Thanks, Jill!
They still recognize my voice, how sweet! Also refused to start with “Tell that little bald bastard he better come thru….”, although I did snarl a little bit, but just to myself.
I left a VM last night that will cause them to wonder if I was drinking. Sad part…. I wasn’t.
You know, one of my neighbors is on Coons’ staff.
I think I may have a chat with you, Andrew. Exercise my rights of speech and redress. Because I have a grievance, Andrew.
I’m even open to exercising my right to assemble. I know a few folks.
Andrew, I’ll be in touch on Monday.
Jason predicted some days ago that Coons would vote yes. So far nothing would cause anyone to rethink that prediction.
Coons’ bipartisan bubble is as thick as the Fox News bubble is for dimwitted conservatives.
There is no doubt in my mind that Chris Coons and Tom Carper will both vote against this confirmation.
Yeah? So? Nobody said anything about voting. It’s about speaking out. We already know the establishment justifications for not doing so. You just demonstrated one.
Weak.
Hahaha! Mitch, poor guy.
Not fucking good enough.
Just FYI https://delawarestatenews.net/news/coons-set-to-join-carper-in-opposing-scotus-pick/
To paraphrase Chris Rock.
Democrats always want credit for some shit they’re supposed to do. You’re supposed to vote no on Trump nominees you dumb motherfuckers!
Voting no isn’t good enough. They should be demanding delays in the vote. They should be demanding Kavanaugh be withdrawn. Carper and Coons are weak and afraid.
