Rethugs Get An AG Candidate, And He’s…A Democrat

Filed in Delaware, Featured by on August 20, 2018

An African-American Democrat at that.  One Bernard Pepukayi, who has worked for both Ruth Ann Minner and, wait for it, Tom Gordon. Here’s the News-Journal article:

My favorite quote?:

Something has been brewing and I believe I have something that has been calling me,” he says in the video. “I want to make a statement that someone who has been through the system is going to achieve the highest office of law enforcement in the state.”

Ho-kay. His career has essentially been a series of patronage jobs.  Why not build on that? It’s the Delaware Way.  Let the record show that not a single Republican ran for Attorney General in 2018. Not even the candidate.

Patronage jobs?? Just like Chris Johnson. Don’t be a hypocrite El. Doesn’t look good on you.

  2. demillenial says:

Bane every time you comment my brain hurts from trying to comprehend the pure idiocy of your opinions.

  3. Just a point. Nothing whatsoever would have stopped Pepukayi from running in the Democratic primary if he wanted to be AG…except having to win a primary to get the nomination.

I guess that whatever had ‘been brewing’ inside him reached its maturity date once the filing deadline had passed. He also said that he would impose the death penalty if the General Assembly restored it.

  4. RE Vanella says:

I guess he meant that since Chris also worked for WPD (internal affairs) and for Carney those were also “patronage”.

Frankly, I don’t know enough about it. All I know is that Chris Johnson should be AG. You guys can snipe about who did what for whom and what patronage means.

Vote Chris Johnson and Kerri Harris on Thursday September 6.

  5. Cassandra over at Blue Delaware reminded me of why Pepukayi’s name was familiar:

Here’s what she wrote when she was a blogger with DL:

Yep, he was the Gordon thug who told Lisa Diller to go fuck herself. The worst kind of patronage hack.

  6. RE Vanella says:

Bane is just being confrontational and pedantic. Let’s move on. The changes of this clown being AG are minute.

  7. Bane didn’t upset me. He had a reasonable point. Until Cassandra reminded me of who this guy was and what he did.

  8. Eiisa Diller says:

Thank you, Cassandra, for reminding the public that this guy’s major contribution to New Castle County government during his tenure as County Attorney was to act as a sycophant for Gordon to deny a woman legislator access to information that was given to a male legislator AND to make the bizarre claim that New Castle County Council wasn’t part of New Castle County (?????????????).
GOP women in Delaware should be aware this was done to the only GOP woman member on Council, Councilwoman Janet Kilpatrick.

Not sure why my comment received such a visceral reaction. Jeez..
