Aug. 13 Open Thread: Supremacists So White They’re Invisible

Filed in National by on August 13, 2018

Did the Unite the Right organizers really need to bother with a permit for their Sunday march in Washington? It attracted about 40 people, perhaps the biggest conservative crowd since Trump’s inauguration but still smaller than most family reunions. Naturally, thousands turned out to protest these pathetic mooks. The ones who should be embarrassed are the media people who built it up as if thousands of pale-skinned militiamen would goose-step down the street.

The most ironic thing about today’s “white” supremacists is how few of them would have passed muster under the racial order promulgated by their Nazi forebears. I see all sorts of ethnic surnames that are obviously Italian (part Aryan, but inferior to Nordics), Polish (subhuman) and Russian (lowest of all white races). Most ironic of all is Stephen Miller, the Duke-schooled conservative whose Jewish ancestors must be appalled — and Miller’s uncle wrote an essay in Politico to say so.

Reality show contestant and Trump’s Black Friend Omarosa Manigault has a book coming out — sorry, crayons not included — so she’s been releasing audio recordings she made, including one from her firing by John Kelly. I normally wouldn’t care, and I only do now because the beltway media is aghast that she made the recording in the Situation Room, which is a major breach of security protocol. Right. We have a president who’s in league with the Russians, but we should get worked up because an arbitrary security breach.

Today’s best Trump So Dumb story comes from Politico. In the course of pundit-splaining Trump’s “steep learning curve” on foreign affairs, they buried the lede: Trump thought Nepal was pronounced “Nipple,” and he thought it was part of India.

Guess which groups of oppressed snowflakes is upset over NFL players taking a knee? Yep, it’s the police union, the biggest group of whiners in the USA. They’re calling for police supporters to boycott the NFL.

Greatest voice of her generation Aretha Franklin is at death’s door, so you’re going to read a lot of pixels the next few days about her greatness. She earned every word of every paean, but in the interest of both-siderism let’s not forget that, like John Lennon, Miles Davis and other musical geniuses, she could also be a real jerk sometimes.

Fascist scum didn’t show up in numbers because they were scared. They said so.

The counter-protest was massive by comparison. The reason most stayed home and more will continue to slither back into their holes is only because of Antifa.

They show up and they show up motivated and ready. They are the only thing keeping fascists off the street.

Antifa is our army. Don’t fucking forget it.

RE Vanella is a basement dweller with romantic fantasies of a revolution because those fantasies are the only time it feels dominant. Lay off the soy, you’re probably developing breasts by now.

  3. mediawatch says:

Oh, the irony of the police union whining about NFL players taking a knee. Talk about disrespect for the flag — the cops created their own flag — blue and white, for the Police State of America. That’s a sign of disrespect that we can observe in just about every neighborhood where a cop lives, a daily reminder that’s much more pervasive than a two-minute political expression by a small number of individuals every Sunday.
I’m OK with freedom of expression and symbolic speech, but the Police State of America flag is not representative of the country I believe in.

  4. RE Vanella says:

I think Anon is scared. (If that’s his real name.) That’s the actually difference between us. You’re afraid of me.

I think my high quality beard is indicative of full functioning male body chemistry. But that’s just science.

    Antifa is our army.

  5. puck says:

    Police brutality stains the flag.

  6. Homesteader says:

If the protestors are looking for a large crowd of racists, they should start showing up at Trump Rallies.

  7. RE Vanella says:

    Question of the Night.

Do the wanna-bes and cloistered retirees in North Wilmington sill read Harry Themal?

If that doesn’t reach the day-time TV geezer set in Talleyville or whatever… These people read Kevin Tresolini’s preview of Sallies v William Penn wrestling match. It’s right there on the counter at Hollywood Grill! I’ve seen the paper…

    This must, right?

  8. RE Vanella says:

Want do you think of all the K Davies info reported today by TNJ’s Jessica Bies?

Seems pretty bad. I think I’m skipping this race.

  9. I think it’s political dirty tricks. What we learned is that Wagner was a no-show Auditor. Davies, as second-in-command, became the defacto auditor, and some of the people working there, and I use the term ‘working’ advisedly, resented what she did. My God, she didn’t run everything past Mr. Suspendered Disbelief! How dare she!

And Wagner comes off as totally smarmy–teasing some stuff while saying that he can’t break confidences.

This is, IMHO, a good-ol’-boy attempt to pass the torch to an equally unqualified would-be auditor in Park City Kathy. In other words, The Delaware Way.

  10. mouse says:

I was thinking of voting republican on this office. Not that it helped with Wagner though. The ole boy network trumps party in DE

  11. If Park City Kathy wins the primary, I will definitely vote for Spadola. Without a second thought.

  12. RE Vanella says:

Thanks for the insight. Normally I would have seen through it but that was a pretty extensive list of questionable behavior.

But if you have a sense that this is mostly political bullshit, I’ll stick with Davies.

  13. RE Vanella says:

Ugh… Ex-cop Republican who has tried multiple avenues to break into politics. Man, I just don’t know. I’ll cross that bridge in November.

I don’t like even the idea of McGuiness!

  14. Alby says:

Lots of interesting stuff in that article. Most of the allegations sound like chickenshit — nothing that indicates that commissioning this report was $120,000 well spent.

Most troubling to me was that there are political appointees working in the auditor’s office. The very existence of such appointees undermines the independence of the office.

  15. mouse says:

I just don’t get why low class uneducated whites think they could possibly be better than anyone

  16. puck says:

Re Davies article: The Empire Strikes Back! You knew they would. Davies is getting the Chip Flowers treatment – it’s all they got.

If McGuinness ends up on the ballot I’m holding my nose and voting Republican.

  17. RE Vanella says:

Thanks for the commentary. I only have a cursory knowledge of the Chip Flowers affair, but if you all belief this is some typical Delaware Way bullshit, I trust you.

My only issue is, if it comes to it, can I vote for a Mike Castle acolyte, ex-cop, serial office seeker. That also reeks of the Delaware Way.

  18. anonymous and loving it says:

“Ugh… Ex-cop Republican who has tried multiple avenues to break into politics. Man, I just don’t know. I’ll cross that bridge in November.”

He’s not completely repulsive as a candidate:

  19. RE Vanella says:

I know. He lives in my neighborhood. Met him numerous times. Seems like a nice enough fella.

Honestly I have such a deep contempt for anything in the Carney orbit I very likely would vote for him rather than Ms Park City. That or cast no vote for auditor.

    Premature at this point.

  20. anonymous and loving it says:

Sometimes I close my eyes and pretend Matt Denn is the Governor and Carney was all just a bad dream.

  21. Alby says:

Carney illustrates the dangers of playing football. Even if his brain wasn’t damaged, he’s clearly afraid of taking a hit.

  22. RE Vanella says:

There was a ribbon cutting at then new BPG building in Wilmington last week. Paper ran a photo of Carney, Purzycki and Rob Buccini. Fucking gross.

The worst bit was the Mike Hare quote:

“Today we celebrate the fact that we can continue to move towards West Center City and reclaim the footprint of the central business district.”

    Reclaim it from whom?
