July 12 Open Thread: Pizza For Perverts

Filed in Delaware, Featured, National by on July 12, 2018

I was gonna lead off with the news that Tom Carper has finally been engaged on the issue of his terrible record. But I can’t emphasize it enough. Hey, read the article twice. (Hmmm, guess I did lead off with Carper’s terrible record.)

Alby’s fave pizza slinger steps in it again. ‘Resigns’ from Papa John’s.   Feelings of schadenfreude permitted, even encouraged.

Speaking of schadenfreude and, for that matter, assholes from Ohio,  Rep. Jim Jordan’s deniability becomes less plausible by the day. The Ohio State wrestling coach during the reign of Dr. Gropius has reportedly admitted that he knew of the bad behavior, and that he confronted the doctor about it. That directly contradicts Jordan’s ‘none of us knew’ defense. I think he’s toast.

Trump’s HHS To Deep-Six Medical Guidelines. Because he can, I guess.  But it makes no sense:

The Trump Administration is planning to eliminate a vast trove of medical guidelines that for nearly 20 years has been a critical resource for doctors, researchers and others in the medical community.

“Guideline.gov was our go-to source, and there is nothing else like it in the world,” King said, referring to the URL at which the database is hosted, which the agency says receives about 200,000 visitors per month. “It is a singular resource,” King added.

Medical guidelines are best thought of as cheatsheets for the medical field, compiling the latest research in an easy-to use format. When doctors want to know when they should start insulin treatments, or how best to manage an HIV patient in unstable housing — even something as mundane as when to start an older patient on a vitamin D supplement — they look for the relevant guidelines. The documents are published by a myriad of professional and other organizations, and NGC has long been considered among the most comprehensive and reliable repositories in the world.

Unintended ‘Victims’ Of Affirmative Action Abolition…Rich Whites?  Could be, especially those so-called ‘legacy’ enrollees. Which covers basically every Trump family member ever.

What do you want to talk about today?

Snarlin’ Jim Jordan may well be toast, as expected more wrestlers are spilling the beans on Jordan and what really went on. As noted his story has now “evolved” from “none of us knew”. Yeah, right. Guideline.gov, as ever Trump remains the great destroyer of all things good and right, and even better for no real reason. On a lighter note suspect the rest of the allies at NATO are still in shock at what the fat man said. Sadly I am not.

Districts like this are mild compared to some I’ve seen. If we want to advance democracy in America redistricting needs to be removed from the hands of the politicians. Far right and foolish supreme court or not.
