July 9 Open Thread: Trump Vs. The Breast-Feeders

Filed in Delaware, Featured, National by on July 9, 2018

Yep, doing the bidding of the formula makers, the Trump Administration sought to deep-six a UN Resolution endorsing breast-feeding. Used ‘gangster tactics’ (threatened trade sanctions) to force Ecuador to drop its sponsorship.  Ultimately, the resolution passed when, wait for it, Russia stepped in as the sponsor. No Trump threats there.

Local non-profit drops hiring of elected officials.  No conflicts-of-interest there. All three reportedly made decisions as public officials that benefitted their employer. Who do they think they are? PAL Longhurst? Nicole Poore? The three who most recently plied their wares at ‘Connections’? Hanifa Shabazz, Darius Brown and Michael Brown, Jr.   Something tells me that neither the Police Athletic League or Jobs For Delaware Graduates will follow suit. But it’s the same scam: Hire ’em and the money will follow. Taxpayer money.

Turns out that Illinois’ endangered Rethug governor Bruce Rauner is profiting from…ICE detention center contracts. Like I said, the national R Party is a wholly-owned criminal conspiracy.

Today’s Must-Read: The man behind the appointment of all those right-wing judges. And he’s now about to get his 4th Supreme Court Justice. Oh, and nobody knows his name.

Government deliberately underplays risk of drinking water contamination on military sites. More great reporting from Pro Publica.

No doubt about it, the administration in DC throws elbows. When will “officials” call fouls?

Carper hanging out at farmer’s markets. Such a maggot and incumbents have endless advantage

I left Indian River inlet at 4:30 yesterday. Got to Dewey quickly and and it too 45 minutes to go the next 3 miles only because the traffic lights are totally random. The traffic wasn’t crazy, no rain, no one coming out of Rehoboth Ave, just Deldot incompetence. Anyone in NCC noticed this problem when here at the beach?

  6. Paul says:

Sussex County is replete with lights set incorrectly.

    Bonjour from France.

Saw a Washington Post story about how public confrontations are taking a toll on Trump staffers. So mea culpa. Confront away.

  8. Joshua W says:

I’m in Sussex for the summer. The lights down here are atrocious, as is the traffic that the cause.

  9. Alby says:

There are no lights here in Sarzeau outside the city center. They use roundabouts. The French know how to drive them without freaking out about it the way Delawareans do.

Tomorrow’s stage of the Tour de France ends about 500 yards from the house I’m staying in.

It’s quite entertaining watching people hit the roundabout on Rehoboth ave

  13. RE Vanella says:

Yield to traffic already in the circle. I never understood why Anericans are so confused by this.

Also, as Al said, it’s much safer. Everyone is forced to slow down.

So Al-B hits my number one bucker list destination. Damn! Want to go twice as bad now!
