Nicole Poore May Support Mass School Shootings

Filed in National by on April 19, 2018

This is not complicated. Either you support mass shootings in schools, or you don’t.

Senate Majority Whip Nicole Poore, D-New Castle, said last week that she is uncertain how she will vote.
“I, like many of my colleagues, am listening to my constituents on both sides of the issue,” she told The News Journal last week.

Just to play devil’s advocate, Old New Castle is the only part of her district that’s high-income and liberal. Glasgow, Bear, Delaware City — these are the parts of New Castle County where high-school-educated whites congregate. I’m sure she has plenty of gun-nut constituents giving her an earful.

  2. If she’s too timid to support reasonable gun control measures, she should GTFO of the Senate. After all, she has her Jobs For Delaware Graduates sinecure to carry her through the tough times. Plus, she’d be in line for yet another piece of public graft courtesy of Dick Cathcart’s Delaware City scams. She’ll be OK.

Surprised her drinkin’ buddy Val Longhurst hasn’t strong-armed her yet. Not.

Actually, I think it’s really about whether you’re sucker enough to duck and cover because a few people will be upset with your decision. If “Profiles in Courage” only featured Delaware Democrats, it would fit inside a fortune cookie.

I could see Lopez making that kind of calculation because he’d rather have Dems angry at him than Republicans. But Poore? It is weak. It reminds me of when BHL voted against the indoor smoking ban because a bunch of loudmouth a-holes in Clayton told her to. Ridiculous.

constituents – “we want some control in place”

NRA – “well stop giving you money”

    decisions, decisions

  6. Alby says:

@jason: It’s exactly the same. You have to be pretty stupid to be swayed by what poll after poll shows is a minority of voters. And, as you point out, the gun nuts are mostly Republicans who are going to vote against her anyway.

Delaware Democrats and Dixiecrats have acquiesced to the NRA for decades now. Old habits die hard.

Can someone link to the article or tell me which specific bill Poore is waffling on? I’m in her district — nowhere near old New Castle and we all ain’t marsh rats down here — and will make some calls.

  8. Jason330 says:

Sorry evolve it was in yesterday’s open thread. I’ll link today and give Poores contact info later today.

  9. I would guess constituents could talk to Poore about this if you can catch up with her tomorrow –

Who are these people, is their power more important than the common good. YES! Time for these power hungry demoRATS to go, no difference between her and a gun totin puke.

Yeah. Any electeds this far off the rails are probably not worth keeping.
