Bridenstine Confirmation Should Cause Every NASA Scientist to Resign

Filed in National by on April 19, 2018

Quitting sucks. It is hard to give up money – but NASA scientists that stay on under this director are giving up much more than money.

Now that the Senate has confirmed Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-Okla.), a man with no scientific credentials, a man who doesn’t believe in climate change, a man uniquely unfit to lead NASA – big gestures are in order.

Senate Confirms Climate Change Denier To Lead NASA

In a June 2013 speech, Bridenstine peddled a debunked argument made by climate change skeptics, claiming that global temperatures “stopped rising 10 years ago.” He said “the people of Oklahoma are ready to accept” an apology from then-President Barack Obama for what Bridenstine called a “gross misallocation” of funds for climate change research instead of weather forecasting.

Critics have also pointed to Bridenstine’s history of opposing equal rights for same-sex couples ― in 2013, he suggested LGBTQ people are sexually immoral ― and voiced concern about his ability to manage an agency of more than 17,000 employees. Bridenstine has no formal background in science or engineering.

  1. Mark says:

Contrary to rumors, NASA’s Frank Batteas , Associate Flight Director of the Armstrong Research Center at Edwards is not now referring to himself as The Frank of Bridenstein.

  2. What a mockery he’s making of government. Every Rethug voted to put that climate change-denying non-scientist in charge of our space program.

I’ll say it again: The entire national Republican Party is engaged in a criminal conspiracy to line their pockets and to destroy government.
