Kathy McGuiness Goes After That LLC Money
No, not as a State Auditor committed to being your fiscal watchdog. As a candidate. As in contributions. From her profoundly depressing kickoff announcement:
Individual Contributions are limited to $1,200 per person and LLC, per election.
Does this mean that each one of, say, Bryon Short’s, or Michael Cohen’s, Delaware-based LLC’s could contribute up to $1200 per election? Of which there are two–a primary and a general? Does this mean that laundered Russian money could end up in her campaign coffers? Hey, they’re LLC’s, I don’t see why not.
The entire McGuiness candidacy is perhaps the most blatant exercise of Delaware Way cynicism that I can remember. It has nothing to do with qualifications, or dedication to performing the tasks of the State Auditor’s office. It has everything to do with jump-starting the brand of an undeserving, albeit, incredibly ambitious, wannabe. Oh, and she’s gonna win. Here is that depressing kickoff announcement:

Not to get too far in the weeds but LLC and the owners of the llc have the same limits. If you own a LLC what you give as a person counts against what your LLC could give. Regardless that is standard disclaimer language, it’s the law, not sure why you chose to single her out for that. Second highly doubt she put much thought into the disclaimer.
I see from that list that the fix is in. Congrats to everyone involved in this project.
Beyond that, this serves as another example that getting elected should be seen as a multi-cycle operation. Park City Kathy’s Lt Gov run was the shakedown cruise*. All you neophyte Progressive candidates, please view your first election day as the end of the beginning.
*Shakedown cruise is a nautical term in which the performance of a ship is tested. Generally, shakedown cruises are performed before a ship enters service. The shakedown cruise simulates working conditions for the vessel, for various reasons.

As to the LLC’s, the people behind these LLC’s can be anonymous. So, if, say, Michael Cohen had chosen to not use his own name to register his LLC, then he could have donated the money and nobody would have known who was behind it.
You’re right, hmmm, she probably didn’t give much thought to it. Because she hasn’t given thought to anything but getting elected. And bringing in gobs of money.
You have to report the officers. Regardless you’re barking up the wrong tree. It’s the standard financial disclaimer in Delaware. There’s plenty to question about Kathy, just seems a bit silly to focus on this.

The Democratic party specifically and Delaware politics generally are a disgrace. No one stands for anything except initiation into the grift club.

It’s not outrage. It’s commentary. It’s simply saying this is a group of retreads and grifters and empty-headed dorks. They stand for nothing and are ciphers for the most tainted garbage interests in the state.

So here we have the elected class endorsing in a Democratic primary, which says we DelDems really don’t believe in small d democracy, but rather insiderism and plutocracy. I guess the theme is…..We’re Delaware. We think small.

As an aside, why in the hell do we elect an auditor anyway instead of just having one who is super duper qualified appointed and confirmed?

Why not support Kathleen Davies? I understand she and “the insider candidate” spoke at a recent RD meeting up north and Davies was very impressive!

As to those who claim that I’m fixating on a small point, when someone runs to be the public watchdog and makes clear that she’ll suck up campaign funds regardless of the source, I don’t consider it a small point. She’s like Carper in that regard. Kerri Harris has made clear that she will not accept corporate money, and she will not accept pass-through money from corporate shills, and the disclaimer on her site is FAR different than McGuiness’ disclaimer. Or, of course, Carper’s.
The entire McGuiness enterprise sickens me b/c the one element completely missing from her campaign is a genuine calling to public service. It’s driven by Delaware Way cynicism. And Delaware Way bucks.
El Som, I agree that the explanation for her long admin leave will need to come out. It is a mystery. But she certainly has the experience to do the job. I’m watching and waiting. Just want to make sure people know it’s not just a question of Dennis or Kathy.
