Delaware Democrats, led by Rep. Larry Mitchell, announced yesterday that they’ll push for a ban on ammo magazines that hold more than 10 rounds. Gun-hugging Sen. Brian Pettyjohn spoke for the blood-soaked opposition.

the argument i seem to be hearing now for assault rifles and high capacity mags is ” i just want to go to the range and shoot how i want to shoot. i dont hunt or nothing but i like to go to the range to blow off steam.”
so why not have government run and regulated ranges like safe injection sites where you can go and rent an ar-15 and pump through as many rounds as you want. there is no reason for those guns to be anywhere but the military

For shooting-sport participants, I don’t understand the problem with leaving the weapon at the range, where it can be locked up safely every time.

I’d go a step further.
I don’t see why the government should be running these shooting ranges. They can easily be a private enterprise.
So, let’s make a deal:
Just ban sale of automatic weapons, boost age for purchase of all rifles and handguns to 21, mandate criminal/mental health background checks and require all buyers to take a gun-safety course.
In return, the NRA can open its own nationwide network of safe-shooting galleries, fully equipped with AR-15s and any other playthings their little hearts desire.
the problem with the range is they are run by gun loving nut jobs. thats not saying a govment worker wont steal one to go shoot up a school. i dont understand the going to the range philosophy. what a waste of money
But it’s a lot less likely than Cletus forgetting to lock the gun safe, or not bothering to buy one in the first place.
i dont think cletus is the problem. most of the mass shooters either had a good job and money or came from money
I’m not worried about the mass shooters. The reason you’re supposed to lock up guns is so kids can’t get them and thieves can’t steal them so easily. It took a forklift to get my friend’s gun safe into his house, and all he has are hunting rifles and shotguns.

A word about the AR15. There is a marked and critical difference between bullets. While nearly the same diameter and size, the casing for the .223 bullet is much bigger than for a standard 22. This extra size is for the powder, the explosive charge that energizes the bullet. The consequence of all that powder is that .223 bullets go much faster, and that extra energy does terrible things to the human body. It shatter entire bones, goes through more organs and tissues. The bullet tumbles, creating a larger path through the body. Steve Scalise almost died from ONE bullet to his hip.
Guns matter, but bullets matter too, perhaps more than the guns. The Swiss heavily regulate ammo. Perhaps we should take a look.
