The FBI on Monday raided the office of Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s personal lawyer, obtaining a search warrant after referral from the office of Special Counsel Robert Mueller according to the New York Times.

Agents reportedly seized materials related to the $130,000 payment Cohen made to porn actress Stormy Daniels days before the 2016 election to prevent her from speaking out about the alleged affair she had with President Donald Trump. The FBI, the Times reported, seized “records related to several topics.”

Trump spoke out about the case for the first time last week, telling reporters on Thursday that he didn’t know about the payment. He referred questions to Cohen.

Wake me when there’s a felon indictment on someone in the White House.

I’m guessing that this move was anticipated… Prior criminal action was likely scrubbed.

  10. Liberal Elite says:

Clever Mueller. By doing this as a referral, Trump can’t make this go away by firing lots of people.

Maybe Trump will try to pardon Cohen for any and all crimes… That would be fun.

Obviously we’ve reached the point where the lawyers either have or are getting lawyers, reminds me of the old “domino theory” about Communism. Suspect the outcome will be a Manafort like eternal rear guard action.

@RSE: Boo-hoo. Responses don’t get any weaker than that.

Alan Dershowitz, just by the by, is a racist piece of shit whose reputation far exceeds his legal skill. He has no idea what the ACLU would do, and he should stick to what he does best, demonizing Palestinians.

Can we just have a rip roaring laugh out loud in unison over the right believing “this ends attorney client privelege”. Mueller a republican, Comey, Sessions, et all are republicans. The evidence against the international crime sydicate of Trumpolini, and his cohorts is too unbelievable even these republicans. All the evidence delivered to a republican FISA judge. The Judge approved it, Mueller had nothing to do with it..it was outsourced to the New York FBI.

  19. Alby says:

@REV: I don’t follow this obsessively, because most of the moves are just pawns moving up one square, but it’s not boring if you grew up thinking the rules should be followed. Mueller has been given the most difficult task in American history — he has to follow rules that give every advantage to his opponent.
