Lopez gets a letter

Filed in National by on March 30, 2018

I predicted that Lopez would reveal himself to be a chicken.

Ernie — I am so disappointed to learn that you are opposing both HB 330 and SB 163! That fact that you showed up at the March for Our Lives on Saturday (to get that precious photo op) and then turned around and opposed these bills that very same week, can not be interpreted as anything but hypocrisy. What are you teaching our youth? What are you teaching your own children?

There is not one reason why any Delawarean (or American for that matter) should have access to an assault weapon with a high capacity magazine.

Your argument about the DE constitution is specious at best. If the DSSA wants to file a lawsuit let them, and then let the courts decide. It’s up to legislators to listen to their constituents and do the right thing. In this case, you have failed.

No response is necessary.

I wrote him a similar message earlier. I respect his decision and I’m sure he will respect mine when I support his opponent in the next election.

And yeah, doing the march for a photo op and then this can only be interpreted as hypocrisy. Since he is my senator, my vote will actually be meaningful.

Can we get a link or some context? Who is “Don”?

  3. RE Vanella says:

    Don wrote the letter.

  4. SussexWatcher says:

    Gee, thanks.

  5. RE Vanella says:

I need more context. Who are you?

  6. Jason330 says:

Sorry. Don Peterson from his FB Page.

  7. RE Vanella says:

    Buzzkill, Jason.

  8. Alby says:

Damn, Nancy. You just beat me to it. Here’s the most important paragraph:

“Other bills recently introduced, such as House Bill 330 and Senate Bill 163, go too far in usurping Delaware’s Constitution which has expansive language towards an individual’s right to legally own firearms for the protection of home, hunting, recreation and self-defense. This constitutional language is not two hundred years old as many assume but enacted in 1987 and expressly provides for a much broader right to bear arms than the second amendment of the United States Constitution.”

Don’t blame me, blame our dang Constitution!

Goes without saying that this is a blatantly cowardly dodge.

Hopefully voters in that district and will not be taken in by that BS and will see Lopez for the mass murder supporting, NRA lackey that he is.
