More of a novelty song with Rockabilly backing tracks. Demonic laughter aside kind of a tame effort.

Anyone: I am trying to identify then locate a song I heard over the radio years ago. As I recall its’ subject was about a young couple who traveled across the Texas border into Mexico for shopping and site seeing. They soon found themselves slightly menaced by slightly resentful locals. Two lines I recall ” Just about a mile from the Texas Border” and ” People smile and say de nada” . It had this stacado tempo or phrasing ( dot dot dot dot…dash …dot…dash..dot )

@Mark: You’re misremembering something, because neither of those phrases come up in a lyric search. Or else this was a local recording that never got wide release.

Where did you hear it on the radio?

To Alby, I probably heard it on a Philadelphia FM station, possibly affiliated with U of Penn or Temple. I too have searched for years with no luck. It was so catchy, I am almost positive those two separate lines were somewhere in the song. I have thought about contacting Texas radio stations that might have better archives , or memories, for obscure tunes than what is available on line. Steve’s eclectic taste rekindled my hope that I could find the answer. Thanks for your consideration.
