Ernesto Lopez could lose and not much would change

Filed in National by on March 8, 2018

Someone who may have an interest in me not liking former Sussex County Administrator David “Dave” Baker says that Baker coud easily be the Senate’s Chamber of Commerce representative. The Bryon Short of the State Senate, if you will.

Baker is the county administrator who presided over the uncontrolled sprawl in eastern Sussex, and a man with no daylight between himself and Lopez on social issues.

“Now more than ever, we need our leaders to be responsive and responsible,” said Mr. Baker. “The 6th District is growing and changing faster than anywhere else in Delaware, and Dover faces major challenges, including on the budget, the economy, infrastructure, and health care. I’m running because our leaders need to put aside partisan differences, focus on shared values, and get the job done – and that’s exactly what I’ve done throughout my career. I’ve worked with Democrats and Republicans alike to help Sussex County thrive through good times and bad. I’m ready to bring that experience to Dover, to give Sussex a seat at the table, and to deliver the results our neighbors expect and deserve.”

This is getting decent hits, but no comments. I guess I pretty much covered it.

  2. RE Vanella says:

I appreciate the meme work personally.

  3. chris says:

Baker was a financial contributor to Senator Lopez in his last campaign I hear as well.

  4. You hear it or you know it? I swear your Rethug trolling is getting old.

Wonder who Pete and Kathy are backing…

  5. Dave says:

I was going to comment, but you pretty well covered it. The only thing I would be able to add is the opinion that Lopez will be tough to beat because it’s about who you know here in Sussex. I don’t know how many people really know Baker and Lopez is pretty ubiquitous here at the beach.

  6. chris says:

Heard it and you can confirm it on DE campaign election finance reports..
Baker gave money to Lopez in his last campaign.

  7. How much? If you looked, you could mention it. Me? I don’t care. Did he give more or less (monetarily speaking, I mean) than Park City Kathy?

  8. Dave says:

McGuiness gave $100 in 2014. I find no contributor by the name “David (or Dave) Baker.”

  9. Mitch Crane says:

I was not able to find any contributions to Senator Lopez from either David Baker or his potential primary opponent, Brian Dolan. As to Mr. Baker, he has a history of support for local Democrats in that he and is wife have attended most every county Democratic Spring dinner as well as the Summer Jamborees.

  10. Alby says:

@chris: You could look it up before posting it. Two others managed it quite easily.

  11. RE Vanella says:

Mitch – A history of support for local Democrats is very telling. Thanks.

  12. Alby says:

Let’s see which one Pete endorses.

  13. Chris is a Republican troll. He’s usually more careful than this, this time he wasn’t. Maybe Ernesto is tossing him a few piasters…

I know Dave Baker to be a decent person. Tired of Lopez and his religion. Baker was appointed by Council for a short time after Stickles retired. Seems like a real human to me.
