Strongly suspect the “business wing” of the party will prevail here, Cohn’s departure is proof they ain’t buyin’ it and suspect behind the scenes moves are already attempting to kill the tariff’s, if possible without dragging Trump in some well deserved mud.

Carve out lots and lots of exceptions — Canada, other countries whose residents look like Norwegians, and perhaps a little something for Mexico — and then he can tell the base that he’s punishing the “bad guys” while minimizing price increases on six-pack cans and cat food tins.

Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Mexico, Vietnam, Chile, Malaysia, Peru, Singapore and Brunei just completed and signed the TPP.

The new #1 antagonist and source of fear for this group? Yep… It’s Trump.

So now, US beef gets a 38% tariff in Japan, but not beef from Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. I hope you like hamburgers…

It’s sad, but we will diminish, as the rest of the world moves forward…
