Gene Truono Seeks R Senate Nod To Challenge Carper

Filed in Delaware, National by on February 20, 2018

Here’s his website:

https://votetruono.com/

It’s not clear to me why he’s running.  He basically tries to out-Carper Carper.  To wit:

“Early in his career, Gene saw firsthand how the burdensome regulations impacted the banking industry but did little to help the consumer.”

Yep, just we need. Someone who wants to cut burdensome regulations on the banks even MORE than Tom ‘Go Directly To Bankruptcy Court’ Carper did.

Where do they find these assholes?

  1. Oh, and there’s also this:

“Gene fully supports the Second Amendment. He believes in enforcing the existing laws instead of reacting to individual incidents.”

    Yeah, those fucking individual incidents.

  2. jason330 says:

God forbid his thinking could be informed by incidents.

    Also this bullshit:

“Gene will fight to decrease the regulatory burden on our small businesses by eliminating unnecessary and duplicative regulations, leading to an increase in jobs and stronger economy.”

    Which ones? They never say.

  3. Wrong candidate. Wrong time.

  4. bamboozer says:

Which regulations does he mean? Any that cost the rich or the corporations they own one red cent I suspect..

  5. Justadude says:

Republicans should have a shot here. Carper getting a primary and an unfunded Hans Riegel got 42 percent in 16 no?

  6. Alby says:

“Gene saw firsthand how the burdensome regulations impacted the banking industry but did little to help the consumer.”

Am I supposed to think that, with all that education he touts, nobody told him those “burdensome regulations” were not put in place to directly “help the consumer”? Laws against bank robbery don’t help the consumer, either, since insurance covers the loss. We nevertheless keep those laws in place, and I don’t see the Genes of the world lobbying to get rid of them.

Every regulation ever enacted was put there because some bad actor in the regulated industry would not be constrained otherwise. In short, people cheat sometimes and corporations cheat routinely, and regulations exist to try to prevent it.

But, hey, like gun laws, why even bother when the crooks are just going to break the law anyway?

  7. Alby says:

@J: What makes you think this guy will be funded? The state GOP has no money, though this guy sounds polished enough that he might get some grizzled upstate moneybags to pitch in.

  8. spktruth says:

Gee now that Karen Hartley Nagle catching such flak (all her own doing) its a wonder she isn’t throwing in her bonnet! God Forbid.

  9. Martha W says:

Just another typical establishment candidate. At least he has a primary challenger.

  10. BTW, the ‘other’ Republican in the race (I had forgotten) is Chuck Boyce, a ‘Glasgow-area resident and small business owner’, according to the News-Journal. As of now, nobody has officially filed for the seat.

BTW, on issues such as immigration, Boyce appears to be far to the left of Truono. Which likely means he can’t win in an R primary:

And yet one of them could be our next senator if certain old ER pictures are released at the proper time. Some people are probably more nervous than they’d like to pretend.

  12. Do you have reason to suspect that such pictures exist?

  13. Alby says:

I have been told they did by someone who claims to have seen them. He is a reputable person. Whether they still exist is another matter.
