Chris Coons Again Played For a Fool

Filed in National by on February 13, 2018

“I’ve been here seven years and never seen anything like it,” Sen. Chris Coons (D-DE) marveled to Talking Points Memo Monday night. “Who knows? Democracy may very well break out in here.”

Coons was talking about the immigration debate Mitch McConnell’s underworld family Republican Caucus promised as payment for passing the GOP’s kill-the-poors budget.

Sucker!

McConnell and his capos leadership team told them today that they have all the way until the close of business Thursday for their little “debate.”

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think Democrats should have closed the government over the DACA kids, because it’s a losing game they were suckered into playing in the first place. My point is that these stupid fucks can’t help getting played. A mark like Coons was probably feeling good about this “concession” Republicans made, because after 7 years he still doesn’t understand that Republicans are happy to reach across the aisle, without any intention of doing so in good faith.

The only value in sending suckers like this to Washington is finding out how many licks it really does take to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop.

He is either an idiot or playing on on TV. I think he is playing one for some reason, but I could be wrong.

Coons isn’t the first person to mistakenly assume their negotiation partners were dealing in good faith. Native Americans usually learned it the hard way, too, even in Pennsylvania.

Coons’s highest value is that he should be seen as bipartisan.

  4. Alby says:

The funny thing is that he actually has quite a temper. I wish he’d turn it on his buddies across the aisle once in a while.

@puck: “Seen” is the key word there. Don’t get between him and a TV camera.

  6. puck says:

Well, Coons once did call Trump a “short-fingered, Cheeto-faced vulgarian.”

  7. Alby says:

Do you think Frito-Lay paid for the product placement?

  8. Jason330 says:

That was back when nobody thought Trump was going to win. Now he is Mr Prayer Breakfast suckup.

  9. Ben says:

Coons is clearly betting on Trumpism winning, doing the same thing Christie did and being first in line for belly rub.
He’s setting himself up to be some shitheel ghetto guard or something.
Fuck that sneery little weasel. Maybe Senator Harris can set him straight when she gets there.
