Song Of The Day: Feb. 12, 2018

Filed in Arts and Entertainment by on February 12, 2018

Nathan Arizona, Day One!:

“Crackling indie pop-rock from a rousing and rowdy Scottish band. NME named it the best song of 2006. A friend of mine and I spent part of a summer on a back porch trying to figure out what they were saying. Even when we finally saw the lyrics it didn’t help much. The line you can’t understand the most is: “asted-way ittle-lay deejays-day.” So, something about DJs? Kind of. Wasted little DJs was what a pair of female hairdressers they knew liked to call themselves.”

Auspicious start! This is right in my wheelhouse.

Now that’s energy. Judging from the video, though, they didn’t get that free haircut.

Yikes! I like it! If you ever wonder why new rock is mostly off the air waves it’s a lack of danceable, catchy tunes like this. Lots of energy. Agree that it would take an actual Scot to determine the lyrics. However will not slather my guitar with duct tape as I do not see this as a trend.

I think the Scotch brogue actually punches it up as well. Nice selection.

The song name in pig latin?

Could be the multiple head traumas.

Saw these Scottish guys at the UD student center in the early 80’s. The song seems apropos, with it being winter, and the “Doomsday Clock” approaching midnight and whatnot.
