Politico on Biden’s Plans for 2018, Lack of Plans for 2020

Filed in National by on February 7, 2018

Biden-watchers hoping for a clear signal of Joe’s 2020 intentions won’t get them from this in-depth Politico piece on his heavy schedule campaigning for other Democrats in the midterms, but that’s about the only question Edward-Isaac Dovere’s piece doesn’t answer. As he details, Biden is both the highest-ranking and most-sought-after advocate for Congressional Democrats, particularly in red-leaning areas.

“Joe has such a high likability factor,” said Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.). Though Manchin hasn’t asked Biden to campaign for him, he said the former VP might be the one national Democrat who isn’t toxic in West Virginia.

The article is well worth the read. As for 2020, Dovere quotes “one donor who is friendly with Biden” as saying, “If anyone anticipated in February 2018 he’d make a decision on running for president in 2020, then you don’t know Joe Biden.”
