Apply to the first Delaware People’s Congress!

Filed in National by on February 7, 2018

I love this on a couple of levels, and I’ll be applying to be one of the delegates from the 9th RD.

Apply to the first Delaware People’s Congress! Where you can serve as a community delegate to push policy for our state!

We believe the community is the is the key to successful neighborhood empowerment. We believe it is time for our local communities to get more involved in the political process and engage in direct democracy. This initiative aims to engage people in the process of how to effectively govern and legislate.

GET INVOLVED!
The first pilot project Delaware People’s Congress will be held on Saturday, April 14th 2018.

BECOME A DELEGATE
We will select two delegates and one alternate from every representative district. There are 41 representative districts so we are aiming for 123 delegates total. In future editions of the People’s Congress, we aim to have community elections for delegates. In this first year we will have an application process to participate.
The deadline to apply to be a delegate is February 23, 2018.

It would be nice if we knew whether it’s Soros or Koch backing this effort.

That’s really a snarky comment that I can’t find anyplace regarding who is involved/leading this effort. Are they Neo Nazis? White supremacists? BLM? The intent is good but I, for one, need more data.

It is Network Delaware. They have some progressive street cred in my book.

I must have clipped it from the ad.

I love how, when the left finds a sugar daddy, the “centrists” never hesitate to declare the parties all equal in the Battle of the Oligarchs.

  4. Felix D. says:

Will this group elect a Politburo to run things? Do you call each other comrade?

  5. Alby says:

No, Felix, you’re confusing them with Republicans, whose marching orders have to be translated from the original Russian.

In the post I said that I like this on many levels. Here is a quick list of things I like about this initiative:

    1) Builds out the Network Delaware footprint into (potentially) every ED.

    2) ID’s high interest individual outside of the structure of any single political campaign.

    3) Could lead to a kind of shadow Democratic Party that could apply pressure on the POS Democratic Party we currently have, and push currently elected Dems to support a more left of center agenda.

    4) Could be the point of entry, and support network, for people who have been thinking about maybe running

    5) Possible left of center counterweight to conservative orgs like the State Chamber of Commerce.

    Kudos to Network Delaware.

This is how I know it’s working. The McCarthyite Red Smear absurdity.

If there’s Commie black list I want to be on it.

  8. RE Vanella says:

    Solidarity, comrade.

  9. Dave says:

@alby. Both sides deserve snark. I like to provide such in equal measure. And because the left is more human and humane, I deliver theirs with an element of humor and not disparagement.

  10. Alby says:

Understood. You weren’t really who it was aimed at, just an excuse to say it.
