Song Of The Day: Super Bowl Sunday
The year was 1993. The Philies were about to play Game 6 of the National League Championship Series against the Braves at the Vet, Phils up 3-2 in the series. My brother and I had tickets (Thanks, Bag & Baggage Tickettown!). I got to the parking lot really early so that I could…park. While I was waiting for my brother, Elise Brown of WXPN dedicated this song from Upper Darby’s own wizard/true star to all the Phillies’ fans. Gave me chills. The Phils won, with Mitch Williams pitching an uncharacteristically no-drama 9th, and the place erupted. Next day, I became an XPN member.
Oh, the song? It was perfect then and is my only choice for today. So perfect that I have two versions. First, the album, the second one live:
