The year in blogging – Jan & Feb 2017

Filed in National by on December 24, 2017

Even after a crazy December that saw the blog fracture along Clinton/Sanders primary lines, and in spite of still being in shock over Trump’s election, the year still started on an optimistic note, as we considered John Carney’s possible budget moves.    Who could have predicted that his big move was going to be giving away the store, and the property the store was located on without getting anything in return?  Oh yeah…. everybody who has seen Carney in action probably could have predicted it.  Any yet, we would not be liberals if we were not optimistic.

In February, we were knee deep in the first special election since the Trump fiasco, and the nation turned its gaze to little Delaware. Although Stephanie Hansen is nobody’s progressive of the year, she is a hell of a lot better than the Doctrinaire Republican she ran against. The stakes felt enormous on the eve of the worst Presidency in history. Somehow we’ll have to recapture some of the vibe in November 2018. Unfortunately, the Delaware Democratic Party isn’t doing much to keep the fighting spirit alive as we’ll see in later installments of ‘The year in blogging’.

The best thing that can be said about Delaware Democrats is “they don’t always act like republicans”

And we all just can’t wait to get to the polls to vote for those Democrats who don’t always act like republicans
