Who Are Your Choices For MVP (Most Valuable to the Progressive Cause) And LVP?

Filed in Delaware, Featured, National by on December 12, 2017

I just don’t have the heart to try and cobble together an MVP list this year.  The year sucked, locally and nationally. Worst year ever.  I believe our democracy is imperiled, and I have abandoned any hope that those who pass for state leaders will lead.

So, it’s up to you.  Who provided you with a glimmer of progressive optimism and who deserves to be excoriated for flushing progressive principles down the drain? I have little doubt that the second list will be deservedly longer than the first list. Locals preferred, but feel free to take a crack at the national scene, it’s your thread.

Have at it.

Going more on hope that achievement this year, because that’s all we’ve got.

Nationally, California Rep. Adam Schiff, because he seems to be asking the right questions.
Also, collectively, the national news media deserve an award for their persistence in truth-seeking in the face of an administration that doesn’t know the meaning of the word “fact.”

State/local — damn if this isn’t ever a reach — Eugene Young, for starting Network Delaware after giving us some hope in last year’s Wilmington mayoral election, and Tizzy Lockman, for giving us hope that change, however small, will come to Delaware’s state government in the next election cycle.

In the interest of full disclosure my missus is Tizzy’s campaign treasurer. That being said, get on the Tizzy train! She’s the tip of the spear. Many more will follow.

    Also, send money.

  3. Tizzy and Laura Sturgeon could well be on next year’s list. I hope that at least three or four other top-tier candidates get in, and win. We need quality new blood in the General Assembly. Lots of it.

Here’s to new blood in the G/A as the current crop is worthless, corrupt and rather stupid. Sort of an Axis Of Awful which leaves nowhere to go but up.

For MVP: Delaware United for promoting progressive legislation and candidates.
Network DE for promoting social justice and inclusion.

For Least: Mayor of Newport and DEM committee member Mike Spencer for publically stating over and over again that progressives can’t win, and badmouthing every decent person/org in this state who tries to make a difference.
John Carney for destroying transparency in every thing he touches.

  6. Gigi: My hope is that the two grassroots organizations you mentioned produce, or at least, assist in the election of, exciting new candidates.

Carney is the obvious choice for LVP at the state level, although Andria Bennett’s vote to kill even consideration of two new tax brackets comes close.

The good thing about people like Spencer is that they can be knocked out by grassroots forces. Get a bunch of people to run for the local committee. That’ll shut him up.
