Biden Only Outside Democrat to Campaign for Jones in Alabama

Filed in National by on November 24, 2017

This HuffPo story is about how the Doug Jones campaign is going it without outside party help, a nod to the reality that nationalizing this race would stimulate Republican turnout.

It’s notable for Delawareans because the only exception to this has been none other than Joe Biden. The official explanation is his decades-long friendship with Jones, but the reality is that Joe is about the only national Democrat who can appeal to Alabamans. Must be because Delaware was a slave state.

All the states were slave states. Some ended slavery sooner than others. Some not a all. I think there is a connection between Joe and Alabama, but I think the links are ones forged by a near lifetime in the US Senate, and not necessarily along party lines.
