Kind of a downer, isn’t it? This is one of my favorite Band songs, but it’s about an old sailor on his deathbed.

Death Cab did a nice cover of it on the Band tribute album:

  2. RE Vanella says:

Probably unsurprisingly my favorite tune of the Band’s is Tears of Rage.

  3. Jim C says:

    Alice’s Restaurant!

  4. mouse says:

27 8 by 10 color glossy photographs with pictures and arrows on the back of each one

  5. Mike Dinsmore says:

Don’t forget “Marigold/Harvest Home,” by Steeleye Span.

    “Come, ye thankful people come
Raise the song of harvest home”

And just in case someone gets around to the category of favorite Thanksgiving movies, my vote goes to “Pieces of April,” which stars Wilmington’s own John Gallagher, Jr.

Second place would be “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.”
