GOP: Grabby Old Perverts

Filed in National by on November 11, 2017

In blackjack, doubling down is what you do when you’re holding a 10 or 11 and the dealer shows a bust card. In politics, it’s just what Republicans do. Every. Single. Time.

Is Roy Moore chastened by revelations that he liked to rock the cradle of love? He is not. In fact, he assured people today at a Veterans Day event that he’s digging up dirt on his accusers so people will see this is all a smear, engineered by both Democrats and Republicans. It appears not to occur to him that maybe everybody was disgusted with the way he set up a charity for which he drew a six-figure salary while writing a few pro-Christian amicus briefs in court cases, pulling in more than $1 million over the course of a decade. Well, decent people did. I can’t speak for Republicans.

At least Moore’s sins are in past, so far as we know. Sexual harassment scandals have broken out in a dozen state capitals, most seriously in Kentucky, where powerful Republican Jeff Hoover resigned as Speaker of the state House. Don’t gloat, liberals. There are several Democrats on the list.
