“Our State Has Decided to Allow Our Children to Become Transgenders”

Filed in Delaware, Education by on November 8, 2017

CollinsThat’s the opinion of one man, anyway, State Rep. Rich Collins, R-Bedrock, who vows not to let it happen on his watch.

WXDE’s Rob Petree, who interviewed Collins, cited the policies at issue, including rules that “school districts and charter schools would be required to work with students and families on providing access to locker rooms and bathrooms that correspond to students’ “gender identity or expression.” Also, “even if a student does not legally change his or her name, he or she can select a “preferred name” based on a “protected characteristic” that school officials would be obligated to use except on official records.”

Such rules don’t summon forth for me the armageddon envisioned by Collins, who sounds every bit the Alex Jones devotee in the audio clips at the link, though I have no idea if his regulation-based complaint is a valid argument. My question is, the guy lives a fairly short drive from Rehoboth Beach. Hasn’t anyone ever taken him to the Blue Moon?

Apparently Mr. Collins hasn’t forgotten his mother unceasingly saying “Boys will be boys.”
I know I’m dreaming, but would be nice to see him become Delaware’s version of Virginia state Sen. Bob Marshall.

That would require someone good to run against him. He got elected over Atkins by a 270-vote margin. In 2016, he won re-election over Brad Connor with a 1,800-vote margin. It’s only going to get wider unless a real progressive-populist Democrat takes him on. His base loves caveman shit like this.

I clicked the link, and this guy has a SERIOUS problem with cause and effect. School policies cause students to choose being transgender? WTF? It isn’t even a tricky or well disguised causal fallacy. It is stupid on its face.

The 41st demographic is all cavemen. I can’t see how a “progressive-populist” would ever have a prayer in that district. That’s why he has never been to the Blue Moon.

No one in the 41st goes near Rehoboth because they are afraid they will see two guys holding hands or that they will catch the gay disease. Which is fine by me, since the Blue Moon has one of the best Sunday brunches around. Makes it less crowded.

@Dave: This guy was a real-estate salesman at one time, just like that other troglodyte who wants a right to work for less. If he wouldn’t go into Rehoboth, that explains why he’s no longer a real estate salesman. You can only earn so much selling mobile homes in Pot Nets and Angola.

Also, watch the video all the way to the end. There’s a little soothsayer moment.

  7. Alby says:

I transgender, you transgender, he, she or it transgenders. We don’t want those kids transgendering.

  8. Paul says:

Well, he’s right about the age of maturation of the frontal cortex, it is about 25. His factual information seems to end there. His rumination about how kids, who are suckers for fads, will “fake” a desire to transform from one gender to another. I cannot imagine that any early adolescent would play games with their social status to be a gender that they don’t really want to be. How many cruel questions about gender identity are already hurled at these kids? Sometimes from adults who should know better. Disrobe entirely in the locker room? That may be the squalid imagining of a “senior citizen” legislator, but not of a 12 year old boy or girl. In addition, not “allowed” to tell the parents? That is a law I’d like to see tested. So, in lieu of telling the parents, inform the Department of Children, Youth and Their Families and watch the parents when they get the information through some court appointed service. Voters would probably appreciate some genuine leadership on this issue, which ends all to often in the suicide of a teen. Leadership begins with knowing the facts, Representative Collins, and not bloviating at the radio station, making the lives of these parents and their children even more difficult. How many families like these are actually in your district? Why not have a meeting with these families, out of the limelight, to let them tell you their stories? This is your real job, Mr. Collins, not parading in front of the mike uninformed.

  9. Alby says:

I’ve noticed that when conservative men talk about transgendered students, they always claim that someone “can say ‘I feel like a girl today’ and go into the girls’ locker room.”

Of course, this says nothing about transgendered people and everything about the speakers, who obviously view every scenario as an opportunity for cheating.

  10. Alby says:

Postscript: Collins doubled down in an interview with Susan Monday, and the story has been picked up by the rest of the mainstream media, so the Jesus humpers clearly think they have a winner here.

  11. Alby says:

Yeah, Delmarva is flogging this story hard. Again, it’s all about parental control. That’s all their “religion” amounts to — deity-endorsed patriarchy.

Still unanswered: How many concussions did Carney receive all those years playing quarterback?
