DOVER — Republican Jason Stewart said Wednesday he is running for the 17th Senatorial District seat.

Incumbent Sen. Brian Bushweller, D-Dover, is not seeking re-election next year.

Rep. Trey Paradee, D-Cheswold, is running for the seat, and Republican Donyale Hall has formed a committee allowing her to raise funds for a campaign.

Mr. Stewart, a native of Kent County, is a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School and a former member of the U.S. Army Reserve who served in Iraq.

After returning from Iraq in 2010, Mr. Stewart joined the Inter-Con Security team of the U.S. Department of State for uniformed diplomatic security, where his duties included planning security arrangements for federal officials and leaders from other countries.

Donyale Hall is also legitimate. Military veteran, mom, and a business owner. She is also African American.

Meredith Chapman – Where is she now? These greenhorn candidates running for the state Senate only make sense if they are setting themselves up for future campaigns.

This recruiting program looks disciplined enough to take that into account. If it is, Dave Burris is setting up the Democrats for a world of hurt.
