GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Police say three men were arrested after a shot was fired at a group of people following the appearance of white nationalist Richard Spencer at the University of Florida.
The Gainesville Police Department said in a news release Friday that 28-year-old Tyler Tenbrink, 30-year-old William Fears and 28-year-old Colton Fears, all from Texas, were arrested on attempted homicide charges.
Police say the three were in a vehicle Thursday after Spencer’s speech and began making Nazi salutes and shouting Hitler chants at a group of people at a bus stop.
Police say Tenbrink showed a handgun while the Fears brothers encouraged him to shoot.
He fired a single shot, police say, missing the group and striking a nearby building.
Police say two of the three have connections to “extremist groups.”

About five hours before his companion allegedly fired a bullet toward several protesters, and a day before police charged him with attempted homicide, Colton Fears, in an interview with HuffPost, laid out the grievances that had brought him to town. “Basically, I’m just fed up with the fact that I’m cis-gendered, I’m a white male, and I lean right, towards the Republican side,” said Fears, 28, wearing a pin of the 3rd SS Panzer Division Totenkopf of the Waffen-SS. “And I get demonized if I don’t accept certain things.”
According to the Anti-Defamation League, Colton Fears is the “least active” of the three Texas men charged in Thursday’s shooting, which happened after Richard Spencer’s speech at the University of Florida. Fears’ brother, William, 30, and Tyler Tenbrink, 28, were also charged. It was Tenbrink who allegedly jumped out of a silver Jeep after an argument with protesters and produced a handgun. “I’m going to fucking kill you,” Tenbrink reportedly yelled at the protesters, while the Fears brothers encouraged him to shoot.

Embarrassed to say at least two of these three dudes are from redneckville near my beloved Houston, Texas. One from refinery paradise, Pasadena, TX. and another from rural/now very suburban Richmond, TX , Tea Party central down there. My apologies to the millions of decent folks from very Blue Houston.
This is the first time I’ve ever heard the word “beloved” used in conjunction with Houston, Texas.
He was attending a Richard Spencer rally, so he doesn’t just lean Republican, he fell down the pit.
